Ada Anamekwe flipped the switch in this game. I’ve always been intrigued by her size and athleticism but in this particular game she turned it into production. Anamekwe used her handle to make plays in the open court usually shredding defenses in transition. In the half court she got to the rim finishing at the rim at a high level. She gobbled up rebounds while wreaking havoc as a defensive wing.
Donavia Hall continues to flash high level skills as a scorer and playmaker. Her plus athleticism and composure on the court opens up ample opportunities for teammates. When she’s engaged on defense her long arms make it hard for defenders to get in the paint.
After watching Amaya Brannon‘s game its obvious why she has four division 1 scholarships. The 5-11 guard/forward is virtually positionless playing 1-5 on both sides of the floor. Her handle allows her to run an offense and find cutting teammates. She’s a streaky three point shooter that become more consistent over the year. Now gearing up for the Area title game and more importantly on possible a chance to rise her stock in the summer.
Plano East freshman Idara Udo flashes a lot of mobility for someone so tall. She tightroped the baseline several times after catching an inbounds in the corner and driving in for a reverse layup that would to a foul on her putback attempt. Udo hoisted up a last second three pointer from deep a skill to keep an eye on if that mobility blossoms further.
Maggie Robbins plays the game with pace. When switching gears she covers a lot of ground making it easy to penetrate the lane. From their looking for an open teammate is her first option but don’t count out a floater if she sees daylight at the rim.
Mikayla Eddins is an active player on the court. It opens her up for quick scoring opportunities to bolster her floor game and finishing around the rim. Eddins knocks downs open shots and continues her activity on defense.
Sanna Murphy displayed some high level guard instincts. Dishing assists, finishing at the rim, and living at the free throw line Murphy also the go ahead shot in the fourth quarter.
Taylor Haggans continues her strong freshman campaign. Haggans finishes through defenders and grabs rebounds in clusters.
