This was a small tournament made up of some of the best prep school talent from around the state. Blair was the top-seed followed by Hun, Lawrenceville, Peddie, and Pingry. Here are the top performers from the tournament.
MVP: Helena Friend | Blair
Friend was the catalyst during Blair’s run to the Prep A Championship. She led the team in scoring in both games. In the semi-final matchup against Peddie, Friend finished with 18 points and scored a game-high 26 against Hun in the finals. Blair won both games by an average of 31 points and Friend was a huge reason why.
All-Tournament Team
Olivia Miles Olivia Miles 5'11" | PG Blair Academy | 2021 State #2 Nation NJ | Blair: Miles is ranked as one of the top players in the New Jersey Class of 2020. That was on full display throughout the tournament. She scored 14 points in Blair’s semi-final victory over Peddie. In the title game, she finished with 17 points, six rebounds, and five assists.
Izzy Lalo | Hun: Lalo was the catalyst for Hun in a 61-55 win over Lawrenceville in the semi-finals. She scored a game-high 27 points to lead her team to the title game. She has been a scoring machine all season for Hun and that certainly was the case come tournament time.
Taylor Blunt | Peddie: Blunt has been the leading scorer for Peddie all season long. She has scored double-digit points 18 times this season including three games with 30 or more. Blunt led the way in round one when Peddie took down Pingry 62-54.
Taylor Simpson | Lawrenceville: The sphomore has been one of the top performers on Lawrenceville all season long. She came into the tournament with the hopes of making a title run but Lawrenceville fell just short to Hun in the semis. Simpson showed her ability to put the ball in the basket and lead her team down the stretch.
