Prospective Miss Basketball award winners:
LeiLani Kapinus | 5’10 G | Madison Memorial
Leilani Kapinus has had a huge career during her four years at Memorial. She has scored 1154 points in her career and counting. Kapinus has also grabbed over 600 rebounds, over 100 blocks, 104 assists and 137 blocks. During her senior campaign, Kapinus has shown why she is number one in Prep Girls Hoops rankings. She has dropped huge numbers this season. She has led her team to a 21-1 record and helped them reach a number two seed going into playoff action. The senior is averaging 17.9 points and 10 rebounds per game.
In a win during her holiday tournament in Florida, Kapinus scored a season-high 26 points and shot 50% from the three-point line. She also had a season-high 17 rebounds in the win. She has an incredible pull up jumper and a strong finish at the rim. She plays with mental toughness and isn’t shaken by tough competition. In another victory over Janesville Parker she scored 25 points. Kapinus spends the summer playing AAU with Flight Elite. Kapinus was a McDonald’s All American nominee. During all her success in AAU and high school she earned multiple division one offers. She ultimately chose Penn State for her college career.
Jaddan Simmons | 5’9 G | Green Bay Southwest
The senior is one of the most crafty offensive players I’ve watched all season. She is averaging 21.9 points per game during her senior campaign. She’s quick and incredibly savvy as a ball handler. The senior is putting up huge numbers for her team and has led them to a lot of success. She’s a floor general and huge leader for Southwest. She’s a tough defender and is averaging 7.5 rebounds per game. Simmons has scored 1,869 points in her four years at Southwest and she continues to put up impressive numbers.
In a win over West De Pere, she scored her season-high 42 points for her team. She has a sick hesitation dribble that is nearly impossible to defend. She is incredibly versatile and can play any position on the floor. In turn, Simmons can also defend and has defended every player on the floor. In a victory over De Pere she scored 35 points. Simmons spends her summers playing with the Purple Aces AAU program where she received multiple division one offers. She is committed to Arizona State University.
Lexi Donarski | 5’10 G | Aquinas
Donarski has been huge for her team this season. She’s been a player heard around the nation for her high scoring on offense and quick pressure on defense. A four year varsity standout, Donarski has led her team to the number one spot in the Mississippi Valley conference. She’s lead her team in scoring and assists all throughout her time at Aquinas. She has scored 1,979 points during her career and collected 523 assists. Donarski has extremely impressive quickness on both ends of the floor. She has 362 career steals. She has a rare combination of length and quickness that help her both defensively and during transitions. Since a freshman she has had so much confidence taking three-point shots, and she has been very successful in doing so. Donarski has put up huge numbers this season.
In a win over Sparta, she scored a season-high 30 points and went 5-7 from the three point line. In another victory over Holmen she scored 29 points for her team. She is a true shooter and unafraid to shoot over any defender. She has a great eye for the floor and understands when to attack the basket. Donarski was selected to play in the McDonald’s All-American game this year. She is committed to Iowa State.
