3A State Championship: A Game of Prospects

3A State Championship: A Game of Prospects
Prep Girls Hoops Kansas Scouting Report

The 3A state title game is scheduled to tip off at 9pm. Two years ago, the 3A girls did not start until 10:30pm as the games went behind schedule with several overtime games. No matter what time this year’s championship takes place, it is going to be exciting and full of youthful versus experienced future college players. Garfield Bulldogs: Prospects to Watch 2020 6’4 F [player_tooltip player_id="20150" first="Dalayah" last="Daniels"] - The California signee and McDonald’s All American is averaging 8.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game in the tourney so far, but she is due for a breakout game and there is no better opportunity than in the state title game. Daniels has outstanding length and quick twitch muscles to get her off the floor quick blocking shots and finishing around the basket. If she can put up a strong double-double, I like Garfield’s chances. 2020 5’10 SF [player_tooltip player_id="20155" first="Meghan" last="Fiso"] - Garfield’s second D1 signee is headed to Michigan. Fiso has played strong basketball all throughout the tourney. She had 15 points and 14 rebounds in a win over Bethel in the semis. Fiso has been posting strong, hitting turnaround jumpers and midrange pull ups with ease. She will need another strong rebounding performance against Lake Washington’s outstanding length. 2020 5’6 CG [player_tooltip player_id="85932" first="Sahcari" last="Davis"] - Davis has played some of her best basketball all season at the Tacoma Dome, which has been a huge boost for the Bulldogs with her scoring and quick hands on the defensive end. A school in the NWAC would find themselves a piece in [player_tooltip player_id="85932" first="Sahcari" last="Davis"].
Lake Washington Kangaroos: Prospects to Watch 2022 5’10 SF Sophia Liesse - The sophomore had her best game of the season on the biggest stage in a win over Eastside Catholic. The versatile wing ended with a game high 22 points on 8/11 shooting and four made three pointers. She defended, protected the ball versus the pressure and just played hard! She is a recruitable prospect and if she can stay consistent from behind the three line like that, it will open up more opportunities. 2022 6’4 C [player_tooltip player_id="27933" first="Elise" last="Hani"] - A prospect with one of the higher ceilings in the tournament, despite volleyball reportedly being her number one sport. She did not have her best game against Eastside Catholic, being in foul trouble, but her presence goes far beyond the box score. She has good mobility, the length is there and she is a put back threat. Hani finished with 10 points and 12 rebounds in an upset with over Mt. Spokane who possesses a lot of length. Her matchup with [player_tooltip player_id="20150" first="Dalayah" last="Daniels"] will be a huge key to this game. 2023 6’0 SF [player_tooltip player_id="115401" first="Sydney" last="Hani"] - The box score does not show the younger Hani’s ability as a prospect either. She has been fearless, physical and aggressive in every aspect of the game. While she has made some freshman mistakes here and there, her coach has shown great confidence in her and she has impacted her team in a positive way as a result. 2022 5’7 PG [player_tooltip player_id="27948" first="Rosa" last="Smith"] - Smith has looked every bit of a Division 1 prospect in the state tourney. She can shoot it, pass it, handle it versus pressure and I love her footwork off of shot fakes and 1-2 dribble pull ups. She may not have the elite quickness of the Eastside Catholic guards, but her skill and IQ was the difference, which college coaches will love. *Feature image 2020 5’7 CG Jen Estes - I believe she is a soccer star, but I have to include her, because she has been a fearless attacking guard that is scrappy on the defensive end as well. A glue type of player that will do anything for her team to win.
