Westampton Tech
Photo by Scott Anderson | Burlington County TimesWestampton Tech has made quick work of their opponents in the bracket. Their 53-33 win over Burlington Township in the semi-final round was their closest of the tournament. Westampton Tech is riding a seven-game win streak heading into the championship.
Nisea Burrell has continued to be the No. 1 option. She scored 19 points to lead the way against Burlington Township. This followed a 40 point, 10 steal performance in the quarterfinal against Hopewell Valley. Burrell is averaging over 18 points per game during her senior season. Another senior who has dominated is Ciara Brannon. She notched a double-double over the first two games of the tournament and finished with eight points and 10 rebounds against Burlington Township.
Westampton Tech was the second-seed in this bracket and they can finish the job on Tuesday. They are an experienced team with their three top players being seniors. Westampton Tech also has some talented freshman in Safiatu Kolliegbo and Jada Corry who will improve over time.
Neptune
Photo by Shore Sports NetworkNeptune is another team coming off three double-digit wins in the tournament. They suffered a second round loss in the Shore Conference Tournament but are looking to avenge that early exit. And they are 32 minutes away from doing just that.
Macy Brackett has scored in double-figures, including two double-doubles, during the state tournament. Sophomore Amaya Evans has been their leading scorer since she scored 22 points in round one against Matawan. Fellow Class of 2022 member Ahjanae Young has also averaged better than 12 points per game over her last three.
This will be a game of experience and youth. Westampton Tech is the senior heavy team looking to add one more accomplishment to their resume. Neptune is the up-and-coming team full of underclassmen talent that has arrived already.
