North Augusta High School ( 27 - 2 ) VS South Pointe High School ( 27 - 2 ) Saturday March 7 - 5:30 PM This will be the most heated and contested game of this year’s State Championships, both of these teams really make their living on the Defensive end of the court. This is the only rematch of a State Championship game from last year and oh by the way…. North Augusta is going for their 4th Straight Class 4A State Championship. 1. How much of an impact will South Pointe - Junior - Guard - [player_tooltip player_id="124076" first="Trinity" last="Adams"] - Have on the offensive side of the court? [player_tooltip player_id="124076" first="Trinity" last="Adams"] is one of the Top Players in South Carolina’s 2021 Class and for that there is a lot of expectations as to how she performs on the court, last year she did not show up the way you are supposed to offensively during a State Title game. Earlier this season I watched her be more aggressive during a great game at the MLK Bash versus Orangeburg-Wilkinson and it showed that she has worked on her Shooting and driving ability. This past season trinity averaged 13.2 Points, 4.8 Rebounds & 2.6 Steals per game for a team that is returning to the State Championship game, she is already one of the most dynamic defenders in the state but I am looking for her to have her signature moment on the offensive side if South Pointe is going to be holding that Trophy on Saturday night. 2. Which duo of Senior Leaders will carry their team to Victory? North Augusta has relied heavily on the leadership and production of Seniors [player_tooltip player_id="124054" first="J’Mani" last="Ingram"] & [player_tooltip player_id="124061" first="Tyliah" last="Burns"] - for many years now on the court these two have been a part of 3 SCHSL State Championship teams and now are looking for more. J’Mani is headed to Winthrop University this summer to start her Collegiate career but for now is leading the team with a 19.7 Point average to go with 6.5 Rebounds, 2.2 Stl & 2.6 Assists in her Senior year. Tyliah is also having a banner year on the court before heading to Winston Salem State University this fall, she is averaging 15.1 Points, 4.9 Assists & 3.7 Steals per game while also surpassing 1000 career points this year. South Pointe will counteract with Guard - [player_tooltip player_id="124050" first="Jamia" last="Blake"] - who runs the show for the team and has put together an awesome Senior year averaging 12.6 Points, 4.9 Assists, 3.0 Steals so far this season. Randi Neal is the other impact Senior that I am looking to make some plays during the Title game, so far this season she is averaging 17.7 Points, 4.2 Rebounds & 2.4 Steals per game and will be taking her talents to Johnson C. Smith University this Fall to play Basketball. I have watched all of these young ladies a lot over the last 3 years and they are all going to leave this game with with no regrets. 3. How much of an impact will Peris Smith have in the Paint? Both of these teams are very familiar with each other, after playing in the Championship game last year, I know that they both had their eyes on each other thinking maybe we will play them again. 1 of the players that is in their 1st year as an impact player is 6’2” - Freshman - Post Player - Peris Smith - This is her 1st year as a starter after spending her 8th grade year on Varsity Collecting a State Championship ring. During this season Peris has really become a presence in the Post for North Augusta and averaged 9.2 Points, 8.4 Rebounds & 1.6 Blocks per game, if she can have a great start to the game and draw some attention that will help shooters like [player_tooltip player_id="124061" first="Tyliah" last="Burns"] get a little more room to launch some deep shots.
