Who led the state in steals per game? Julianna Ouimette | Lakeland | 5’9 G | Freshman Leading the state in scoring this season is Ouimette. She’s done it all for her team and really stepped up to the pressure of being a freshman. She plays with poise and patience. She understands when to jump for a steal and uses her fast footwork to jab at defenders. She averaged 7.9 steals per game with a total of 181 steals on the season. In a win over D.C Everest, Ouimette had a season-high 15 steals. [player_tooltip player_id="132348" first="Bailey" last="Butler"] | Black Hawk | 5’7 PG | Junior Second in the state for steals this year is Butler. She’s dynamic offensively and can guard just about every position. She’s one of the more athletic guards I’ve watched this season and pressures her opponent on every possession. She averaged 6.9 steals per game this season and has 180 steals in total. In a huge team win over Benton, Butler grabbed a season-high 11 steals. In a playoff victory over Oakfield, she grabbed 10 steals to send her team to the State Tournament. Butler is committed to UW- Green Bay. Becca Schauer | Ozaukee | 5’6 G | Senior Leading her team in scoring, assists and steals is Schauer. She’s been the key player to help her team to second in the conference this season. She has good hustle defensively and plays every possession hard. Alongside scoring 19.9 points per game this season, she averaged 6.2 steals per game. With a total of 142 steals, Schauer certainly applied pressure. In a win over Reedsville, she grabbed 12 steals. Her season-high 12 steals was matched on three separate occasions this season. Schauer also averaged 6.1 assists per game. Rayanna Beauprey | Mountain Top Christian | 5’7 G | Freshman Beauprey was putting up some huge numbers this season on both ends. She scores, she rebounds, she distributes and steals for her team. She’s all over the place and was a huge threat this year for Mountain Top Christian. She led their team in scoring, averaging nearly 20 points per game. Most of her points however, were coming off of her strong rebounding or pushing the transition after a steal. She averaged 5.6 steals per game. In a win against Faith Christian, Beauprey had a season-high 11 steals. In another win over Saint Anthony, she had 9 steals in the victory. Beauprey is a player to watch in the seasons ahead. [player_tooltip player_id="132415" first="Caroline" last="Strande"] | Racine Lutheran | 5’11 G | Senior The Minnesota recruit Strande does everything right for her team. She’s fundamentally sound, moves without the ball, and has an exceptional shot off the pass. She’s quick on defense but can use her body to guard anyone on the floor. She’s relentless for points off the paint and gets buckets over guards. At 5’11, she’s long and lanky, the perfect combo for grabbing multiple steals per game. This season she averaged 5.5 steals with 131 steals in total. In a win over Living Word Lutheran, Strande grabbed 11 steals. In another win over Catholic Central, Strande had a season-high 14 steals. Madelyn Schlies | Wausaukee | 5’6 PG | Senior The floor general for Wausaukee is sixth in the state for steals this season. Averaging 5.6 steals per game, she’s helped her team in some big victories. Schlies is so consistent for her team. She’s reliable and will undoubtedly always play hard every possession. Second in her team in scoring and first in assists, Schlies is definitely dynamic. She had 124 steals this season. In a win over Lena, Schlies grabbed a season- high 11 steals. In another victory over Florence, she grabbed 10 steals.
