Central Ohio Key Sophomores- Part 1
Jenna Lucas, 6’0 Watkins Memorial
Jenna played a huge role on a very successful Watkins Memorial team this season. Very impressed with her strong defense, does a great job denying the pass. Thrives off of anticipating opponents passes, and can take the ball in for easy buckets. Shows quickness, and solid ball handling skills for a 6 ft. player. This athletic young lady is a strong shooter, averaged just under 10 ppg., and is only going to keep improving!
Brooklyn Smith, 5’7 Newark Catholic
Making 3rd team All Central District, Brooklyn proved to be reliable guard for the Green Wave, averaged 10.1 ppg. this season. Makes good decisions on the court, gets the ball to her teammates, and knows when to take her shot. Had several games this season with multiple 3’s- excellent shooting behind the arc, as well as comfortable with the pull up jumper.
Cate Schieber Cate Schieber 5'9" | CG Granville | 2022 State OH , 5’8 Granville
There’s not a shot on the court that this girl can’t shoot! Averaged 13.1 ppg, and easy to notice if left open for a moment, she will score. Very exciting to watch her shoot 3’s, and so consistent! When she steals the ball, it quickly becomes two easy points. She has strong handles, and does very well in transition. Good defensive player as well, and creates shots for teammates.
Blessing King, 5’11 Worthington Christian
Blessing, who averaged just under 10 ppg., is a strong, very athletic player, who was chosen 3rd Team All Central District. She’s incredibly quick, both with and without the ball, and can cut hard to the basket for easy scores. Does a great job pinning her defender while posting down low, and uses the glass well. Plays well defensively- her quickness is a huge asset.
Mary Ferritto, 5’9 Jonathan Alder
This young lady gets better and better every year! Ferritto played a big role with the Pioneers, who made it to Regional Semi-finals this season. She plays the 1-2 position, and can drive hard to the basket, as well as pull up for mid-range shots. She can get hot behind the arc as well. A very strong defender who doesn’t give her opponent much breathing room. Has solid court vision, finding open teammates, and makes smart decisions. Her motor never slows down, moves well without the ball. Pictured above
