Central Ohio Key Freshman- Part 1
Jenna Shackleford, 5’11 Newark
Shackleford was part of a very strong and deep Newark team, and she has all the tools needed for a promising future. She has a pretty outside shot, can shoot deep anywhere on the court, and demonstrates strong, athletic post moves that are difficult to defend. Plays physical defense, is comfortable with using the backboard, and can alter opponent’s shots with her length. Does a great job looking up immediately for fast break opportunities after rebounding.
Abbie Riddle Abbie Riddle 5'10" | CG Liberty Union | 2023 State OH , 5’11 Liberty Union
Very strong freshman year, averaging 14.3ppg/ 3apg/ 4rpg/ 82% ft. Her enthusiasm for the game is contagious! Great court vision, gives strong passes to her teammates. She can shoot the 3’s with ease, and isn’t afraid to take the ball hard to the basket. Riddle has no problem taking the ball coast to coast and can slice her way between multiple defenders. Moves very well without the ball.
Nelia Guice, 5’9 Westerville South
I love how Nelia shows so much composure for her young age! She is a true leader on the court, is aggressive, fights for every rebound, and leaves it all on the court. Nelia uses the backboard well with her inside shots, and when she’s hot from the outside, watch out! She can play the 2,3, and 4 spot well, and does whatever it takes to help her team.
Tamara Ortiz, 5’5 Westerville South
This girl plays with fire! She makes excellent crisp passes, and pushes the ball with her great court vision. Very comfortable taking care of the ball with pressure, plays like an upperclassman. Can take the ball in strong to the basket, and has a nice outside shot. Defensively, she doesn’t give much breathing room for opponents.
Jenna Kopyar, 5’7 Dublin Coffman
Jenna is a quick 1-2 guard for the Rocks, who played valuable minutes as a freshman. Very strong 3 point shooter, with confidence anywhere behind the arc. Not afraid of contact, and is aggressive taking the ball to the basket. Great vision looking for her teammates. Anticipates opponents passes and quickly takes off to score.
