With the Class of 2021 Rankings being updated earlier this week, I wanted to take a closer look at a few prospects that I would consider ’Sleepers’ in this class. To me, the 2021 Class is very deep with a wide-range of talent, and these players are just a handful who will make an impact at the next level:
[player_tooltip player_id="123612" first="Emma" last="Raupp"], 5’7” Guard, Schaumburg
Raupp is a solid all-around player who excels on both ends of the court. She is a strong Guard with a high IQ and knows where she always needs to be. Emma can handle the ball well against pressure and attacks the lane with a purpose, while also being an above average shooter from deep.
[player_tooltip player_id="11683" first="Isabella" last="Tierney"], 5’10” Guard, Conant
Tierney is a long and athletic Guard who can really shoot it from beyond the three point line. She has the ability to hit shots off the dribble, and she moves well without the ball to get herself open for her teammates to find her. Isabella is a constant hustle player who uses her frame to impact the game on both the offensive and defensive ends.
[player_tooltip player_id="123615" first="Gabi" last="Melby"], 5’6” Guard, Naperville Central
Melby is a high-level scorer, especially from beyond the three-point line. She has the skill and athleticism to create enough pace for herself to get clean looks at the basket. Matching that with her ’in-the-gym’ range make for a tough defensive assignment every game.
[player_tooltip player_id="123618" first="Brynn" last="Tabeling"], 5’4” Guard, Tuscola
Tabeling had a terrific Junior season for the Warriors. The Combo Guard handles the ball well in traffic and does a nice job beating defenders one-on-one. Brynn has an impressive jumper from mid-range and from three that she showcases off the dribble numerous times throughout a game.
Amelia Bromenschenkel, 5’11” Guard, Mendota
Amelia is a long and athletic Guard who can score the ball at a high rate in a number of ways. She’s an athletic ball handler who is tough to stay in front of with her shiftiness. She often shows an impressive step back jumper from all areas on the court to keep her defenders guessing. Bromenschenkel rebounds the ball well on both ends and uses her height and long arms to collect second chance points.
[player_tooltip player_id="123611" first="Lindsey" last="Hahn"], 5’7” Guard, Lyons Township
Hahn is one of the most dangerous three-point shooters in the state. She is a skilled ball handler who can hit shots from well beyond the three-point line off the bounce or spotting up. Lindsey is a high-IQ player and terrific passer when pushing the ball up the floor.
[player_tooltip player_id="123614" first="Sydney" last="Molis"], 6’0” Forward, York
Molis is a strong and athletic player who can have success at multiple positions due to her skill set. She handles the ball well and knows how to position her body to get good looks at the hoop. Sydney has a great motor that is tough to match up with and makes her difficult to out-rebound.
[player_tooltip player_id="123418" first="Eliot" last="Dojutrek"], 5’8” Guard, Prospect
Another well-rounded Guard in the Class of 2021, Dojutrek is a solid player on both ends of the floor. She has the strength to take care of the ball and finish well through contact, and the quickness to beat defenders one-on-one. With her toughness and athleticism, Eliot can excel on the defensive side against multiple positions.
[player_tooltip player_id="123412" first="Talia" last="Pellegrini"], 5’7” Guard, St. Charles North
Talia is another Combo Guard who possesses a well-rounded game. She can handle the ball well, but really does a nice job making plays from the wing. Her ability to shoot the ball from deep or attack the lane and finish make her a threat at all levels on offense. Defensively she matches up well with lead or off-ball guards and uses her strength to hold her own in the paint.
[player_tooltip player_id="123585" first="Juliana" last="Cutrara"], 5’5” Guard, Marian Catholic
Cutrara can score the ball from all levels when needed, but her ability to play the Point Guard position is so fun to watch. She’s quick and under control with the ball at all times and loves to get teammates involved. Juliana is a high-IQ player, always knowing where she needs to be and where the smart play is on the court.
