The Class of 2023 burst onto the scene in New Jersey right away. There are some players ranked nationally and plenty more that have a chance to be through the years. Here, we will take a look at the top players from each position in the Class of 2023.
Point Guards
Zoe Brooks Zoe Brooks 5'8" | CG St. John Vianney | 2023 State NJ | Trenton Catholic: Brooks is one of those dynamic players ranked nationally by ESPN. She is a complete guard for Trenton Catholic who has taken over as the quarterback of the offense. Brooks is a versatile guard who can score at all three levels. She is a future Division I guard.
Hannah Hidalgo Hannah Hidalgo 5'7" | PG Paul VI | 2023 State NJ | Paul VI: The point guard position is the strongest of the five in this class and it continues with Hidalgo. She is an agile guard who completely took over Paul VI and made them a different team. Hidalgo is unstoppable at getting to the basket and can shoot from deep.
Shooting Guards
Tyonna Bailey Tyonna Bailey 5'10" | CG Montclair Immaculate | 2023 State NJ | Morris Catholic: Bailey can fill up a stat sheet on any given night for Morris Catholic. She was an elite rebounder on both ends and set her teammates up in position to score. Bailey is a big time prospect because of her scoring ability mixed with her other skills.
Julia Corsentino Julia Corsentino 5'9" | SG Rumson-Fair Haven | 2023 State NJ | Rumson-Fair Haven: Corsentino turned into one of the top newcomers in the Shore Conference. Rumson was in need of a leader and Corsentino has stepped up from the guard position. She is an elite shooter with unlimited range.
Small Forwards
Alexis Davis Alexis Davis 6'0" | SF Woodbury | 2023 State NJ | Glassboro: Davis is one of the top ranked players in the Class of 2023. She is an agile forward who can play many positions on the floor. She has great size and is quick-footed. Davis is a game changer when she steps on the floor.
Aaryn Battle Aaryn Battle 5'8" | SF Camden Catholic | 2023 State NJ | Clearview: Battle was a difference maker on both ends of the floor. She has quick hands that get into the passing lane and she can act as a rim protector. Battle can defend inside or out. On the offensive end, she is a player who a team can run the offense through.
Power Forwards
Brynn McCurry Brynn McCurry 6'1" | PF Sparta | 2023 State NJ | Sparta: McCurry showed dominance in her first season. At 6’1, she has quick feet and strong hands that allow her to rebound and win battles down low.
Maddie Branigan Maddie Branigan 6'0" | PF St. Dominic | 2023 State NJ | St. Dominic: Branigan came into St. Dominic as a big prospect and she will turn into one at the next level as well. Branigan can do it all on the floor and she will have eyes all over her during her high school career.
Centers
Aalyah Del Rosario Aalyah Del Rosario 6'5" | C Webb- Bell Buckle | 2023 State #5 Nation TN | Trenton Catholic: Del Rosario is part of a dynamic duo in the Class of 2023 for Trenton Catholic. Del Rosario is ranked nationally by ESPN and this is no surprise given her size and skill. Del Rosario is 6’5 and is one of the most athletic players in the state. She has a chance to be a star Division I player and beyond.
Mikaela Hubbard Mikaela Hubbard 6'2" | PF St. John Vianney | 2023 State NJ | St. John Vianney: The Lancers were the top team in the state with the top player in Madison St. Rose Madison St. Rose 5'10" | PG St. John Vianney | 2022 State #65 Nation NJ . Hubbard was another reason for their success. At 6’3, she controls the paint on both ends. Hubbard is a dynamic scorer in the lane and can protect the rim on the other end.
