A list of 5 players in the sophomore class that stood out with their successful scoring ability this season. Each one of these players below compete in the Greater Milwaukee region.
Alvi Badberry | Milwaukee Marshall | 5’8 G
Badberry had a breakout season this year for Marshall. She led her team in scoring with 21.9 points per game. She’s a fast guard who has a quick first step to the basket. A lightning quick offensive threat that can take over a game with her skills and handles. She has a great mid range shot and overall shot selection. The sophomore consistently put up huge numbers this season. In a game against Milwaukee Madison, Badberry scored a season-high 37 points.
Toniah Williams | Milwaukee Academy of Science | 5’5 G
The standout guard gets the job done for her team. An incredibly talented guard who puts her team on her back and gets buckets. Williams averaged 22.8 points per game this season. She is light on her feet and has a great feel for the game. She’s composed when attacking the basket and is not afraid of contact. The MAS standout excels at creating space for herself on offense, often knocking down the three point shot. Williams made 22 three point baskets this year. In a win against Milwaukee Hamilton, Williams scored a season-high 28 points.
Nakiyah Hurst | Milwaukee Academy of Science | 5’10 F
The sophomore plays with precision and power while she’s on the court. She impacts the game with her ability to fight for rebounds and use her body to score under the basket. A gifted scorer and rebounder, Hurst has proven how athletic she is. Hurst has confidence beyond the arc as a 70% three point shooter this year. She runs the floor in transition and can handle the ball as well. This season she averaged 19.6 points per game for MAS. In a game against Brown Deer, Hurst dropped a season-high 45 points. Hurst currently holds offers from DePaul, Milwaukee, Tennessee State and Vanderbilt.
Tamera Boyd | Milwaukee Marshall | 5’8 G
Working alongside Badberry, Boyd does a great job of creating a game for herself. She plays with patience and poise on offense. She waits for an impact shot and moves well with the ball. She uses screens and is an impressive mid range shooter. This season, the sophomore averaged 16.7 points per game. Boyd is a perimeter shooter who impacts the game with her range. In a game against MIlwaukee South she scored a season-high 41 points.
Clare Diener | Cedarburg | 5’8 G
Diener was an impact player this season for Cedarburg. She handles pressure well and has fantastic handles getting passed defenders. She attacks with precision and doesn’t shy away from contact. Diener sees a lot of points off transition buckets or off her own steal on defense. This season she averaged 15.3 points per game. A sniper from beyond the arc, Diener is a super confident three point shooter. She made 53 three point baskets this season. A consistent scorer for her team, Diener scored a season-high 31 points against Milwaukee Washington.
