Impact Junior Guards to Know Below is a list of players that have made an impact during their Junior campaigns. Many of which have high ceilings to becoming even bigger impact players during their senior season. We’ve highlighted some of the aspects of their game. Julianna Wagner | Lake Mills | 5’5 PG Wagner led her team this season to a number one spot in the Capitol- North conference. The talented point guard was an asset to her team in more ways than one. Wagner has the ability to create a shot for herself. She averaged 13.3 points per game. She is patient running the offense and finds open shots well. A snipe from beyond the arc as well, Wagner made 46 three point shots this season. In turn, her great feel for the game allows her to be a good distributor. She averaged 4.4 assists per game, leading her team. Wagner earned Player of the Year in her conference. [player_tooltip player_id="155766" first="Elizabeth" last="Cleary"] | Oconomowoc | 5’8 G A triple threat for her team this season and a player with a very high ceiling. Playing alongside one of the state’s top seniors, Clearly developed new aspects to her game. She became a floor general, finding her post players effectively. She averaged 2.4 assists per game. Clearly knows when to score the basketball for her team and how to get open. She works hard to get her teammates open, setting great screens and cutting hard. She will also knock down the perimeter shot if left open. The junior averaged 9.4 points per game this season. She’s relentless on both ends of the floor. At 5’8, Cleary is not afraid of contact. She was second in rebounding this season for her squad, averaging 4.4 a game. Clearly was chosen as First Team All conference in the Classic Eight. Teagan Fray | Melrose- Mindoro | 5’8 PG Playing alongside some of the states best post players, Fray became a pass first point guard. She excels at finding her teammates open and setting the tempo on offense. Her crafty passing led her to average 2.2 assists per game with over 50 on the season. A floor general for sure, Fray is a clear communicator on both ends. She’s relentless on defense, diving for loose balls and playing intense each possession. Her footwork and ability to cut off a dribble is the best I’ve seen this season. She averaged 3.2 steals for Melrose- Mindoro. Fray will take the perimeter shot if left open, and will attack the lane with authority if her team needed a bucket. The point guard averaged 10.5 points per game. [player_tooltip player_id="132349" first="Carley" last="Duffney"] | Green Bay Preble | 5’11 G Player of The Year in her conference, Duffney showed how much she impacts the game. She led her team in points and assists this year. She sets a hard screen, getting her teammates open with ease. She led her team in assists with 4.8 per game, Duffney is scrappy and quick. She’s athletic and can push the ball in transition well. The junior has the rare combination of size and skill. She uses her handles to pass by post players while using her size to score over smaller guards. Duffney really improved her mid range game this season, adding an impressive jumper to her scoring. She has a great eye for her shots and creates space well underneath. She will also shoot the outside shot if left open. She averaged 18.2 points per game. Duffney is committed to South Dakota. [player_tooltip player_id="132370" first="Jaelyn" last="Acker"] | Germantown | 5’7 G Acker is already a versatile impact player and will only continue to improve entering her senior season. She is a lights out shooter. She gets open without the ball and can knock it down with a pass or a dribble. She’s a scorer from far beyond the arc and will shoot with a defender in her face. Acker super fast, so if she isn’t scoring from the perimeter she attacks the rim while creating contact. She averaged 12 points per game this season and made over 60 three point shots. A defensive specialist as well, Acker impacts the game with her steals per game. This season the junior had over 80 steals.
