For a few pairs of Oklahoma prep basketball players, that blood is more than just a metaphor. Here is a look at a few sets of Oklahoma sisters who are making a name for themselves as individuals… and a family.
Elle Papahronis | 5-10 G/F | 2023 | Edmond North | @ellepapahronis
Toni Papahronis | 6-0 G | 2022 | Edmond North | @toni_papahronis
Edmond North is coached by Pete Papahronis – who is a phenomenal coach – but, his daughters are the ones really making a name for themselves. Toni has outstanding size for a guard and is a floor general. She defends better than most high school guards and uses her length well. Elle is a great scorer and has does a great job finishing in transition. Both will no doubt be ranked in our next rankings and when OK Swish is finally able to kick off their grassroots season, the Papahronis sisters will no doubt be ones to watch.
Claudia Keyser | 5-9 G/F | 2020 | Crossings Christian | @claudiakeyser23
Olivia Keyser | 5-9 CG | 2020 | Crossings Christian | @oliviakeyser
Apart from looking alike, these twins share one other important feature. Both players have lightning-quick releases on their jump shots. Claudia’s comes from the left-hand and Olivia’s comes from the right, but they still are very similar shots. They also almost always go in. Claudia was one of the most accurate three-point shooters in the state in 2020 and Olivia’s percentages weren’t far behind. It is clear that both players spend a lot of time in the gym. Both sisters have great handles. Olivia uses hers to penetrate and score. Claudia uses hers in transition and finding the open player. Both are outstanding spot-up shooters. Both players remain unsigned and college coaches need to take a look at both of them, before it’s too late.
Morgan Borgstadt | 5-11 PG | 2023 | Verdigris | @borgstadtmorgan
Lexy Borgstadt Lexy Borgstadt 5'7" | CG Verdigris | 2021 State OK | 5-9 G | 2021 | Verdigris | @borgstadt_lexy
Lexy is our No. 18 ranked player in the class of 2021. She is a very smart player who sees the floor well. She is very good at diagnosing what the other team is doing and inserting herself into the passing lanes. She prefers to use her outstanding size for a guard to get inside and score, often drawing contact in the process. Younger sister Morgan may eventually surpass Lexy’s No. 18 when the 2023 rankings are released. She is a hard-nosed player with tremendous size for a point guard. She has very quick hands and defensively is a very tough match-up one-on-one. She does a good job of getting her teammates involved and, just like Lexy, loves to finish at the basket.
