On both the boys and girls’ side, the Class of 2022 is loaded with talent. These players will be highly sought after prospects who will put on a show over the course of their years as an upperclassman. It is time to take a look at which players around New Jersey have stepped up already for their teams.
[player_tooltip player_id="134626" first="Madison" last="St. Rose"] | St. John Vianney
St. Rose was a star already after her freshman season but it is impossible not to mention her once again. Her stock continued to rise as she led St. John Vianney to a No. 1 ranking in New Jersey. As a sophomore, St. Rose won the New Jersey Player of the Year award and it would be a shock for this to be her last. St. Rose is a complete point guard who can do it all on both ends of the floor.
[player_tooltip player_id="134628" first="Saniah" last="Caldwell"] | Saddle Day River
Caldwell stepped up for Saddle Day River this season and was an All-State selection. There is no doubt that she is one of the top players in the state. Caldwell is a dynamic scorer who can fill up a stat sheet quick. She can shoot from deep or use her speed and athleticism to get by her defenders. Caldwell will be a must watch player next season.
[player_tooltip player_id="134631" first="Ally" last="Carman"] | Red Bank Catholic
Carman, along with [player_tooltip player_id="134627" first="Justine" last="Pissott"], have Red Bank Catholic in a great spot for the future. The Caseys are a powerhouse and that is much in part because of Carman’s growth as a player. She has the size to dominate down low but what makes her special is her footwork and strong hands. Carman can outsmart a defender on the post at will.
[player_tooltip player_id="134633" first="Faith" last="Pappas"] | Pope John
Pappas missed the first 13 games of the season but when she returned, she led Pope John in scoring and three-pointers made. She knocked down 38 three’s in 16 games. Scouts will be eager to see Pappas play a full season after the way she finished her sophomore campaign.
[player_tooltip player_id="134634" first="Eniya" last="Scott"] | Bayonne
Scott made her mark as a complete point guard in her sophomore year. Bayonne had a balanced attack led by Scott outside and [player_tooltip player_id="134601" first="Makoye" last="Diawara"] inside. Scott filled up the stat sheet averaging 14.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game. She added 3.5 steals per contest and even had an 11-steal performance early in the season. Scott will take a huge step next season as Bayonne will lose some key players and will need her to step up.
[player_tooltip player_id="134639" first="Madison" last="Schiller"] | Ramapo
Schiller was a double-digit scorer in all but two games this season. She scored a total of 530 points and notched five double-doubles. Schiller added a triple-double when she finished with 10 points, 10 assists, and 10 steals in a win over Paramus.
[player_tooltip player_id="134642" first="Veyoni" last="Davis"] | Moorestown Friends
Davis averaged 20 points per game this season. After being held to just three points in the second game of the year, she finished the season with 24 straight double-digit scoring games including 12 over 20 points. Davis is a strong shooter who hit 43 three’s this season and got to the line with extreme skill.
