Safiyah Reed of Trinity and Marshaun Bostic of Gateway STEM are also great looking stars on defense.
Alohilani Bursey, St. Clair, 2021
Bursey finished the season with 108 steals and a 4.50 steals per game average. Bursey was part of a great defensive backcourt that will return for St. Clair in 2020-21 and look to reak havoc again. Posted some of her best outings against New Haven and Pacific with 12 and 11 steals, both of those coming in Mid February games.
Safiyah Reed, 5-4, G, Trinity, 2022
The quick and impressive Reed had a great season and was a player to take note off for the Titans. Reed finished off an impressive sophomore campaign with 106 steals and 5.5 steals per game. Reed turned in an 10 steals vs. DuBourg and Duchesne, both mid February games.
Marshaun Bostic, 5-9, G, Gateway STEM, 2021
Bostic was a player that was a very tough one on one matchup for several players to go up against and we like her skills and quick hands. Bostic registered 12 steals in games vs. Medicine & Bioscience and Carnahan. A player that can make some great things happen on the court and one of the top area defensive stars.
Nateiona Russell, 5-8, Lift for Life, 2021
Russell is another good looking player that brought some nice experience and made a big impact this season as one of the top steal leaders in St. Louis. Russell had a great season and posted numbers of 129 steals and 5.38 per contest. Had back to back 13 steal games vs. Fort Zumwalt East and Affton in December for her top two defensive games on the 2019-20 season.
Ally Newton, St. Clair, 2021
Newton was among the most impressive players in the St. Louis area this past season and racked up 131 steals for a 5.46 average on the season. Newton is had some great defensive outings, among her most productive games were a 13 steal outing vs. St. James and an game against KIPP with 11 steals.
