Quick handed, strong point guard who lived getting downhill and being a disruptor on defense. In the game watched, her finishing around the rim was a bit sporadic. With a combination of good moves like one legged runners over defenders, finishing with both hands. But there were times she got too deep and missed contested looks. Continuing to refine her shot selection is a good next step, especially as she’s a good passer, shifty as a dribbler and impacts winning on the defensive end.
Highlights
A scoring wing who can get after it on both ends of the court. Most of her scoring damage was done in the mid-range, showing a smooth game when it came to getting to her spots. There were a couple more explosive moves to the rim that were just missed, which was the difference between a good and a great game. If she’s a stronger finisher at the rim to go along with her reliable and smooth mid-range scoring, the Kansas guard should soar this summer.
Good athlete, gets off the floor with good lift and strength when it comes to rebounding and contesting shots. Runs the floor hard to get second chance points when her teammates push the tempo. Closed out the game watched with a couple hits in the mid-range. Type of player that fits into the glue role of elevating a team’s floor.
A good, strong driver with solid change of direction ability when pressuring the rim. Can operate in the mid-range with floaters over defenders and hitting jumpers. While overall confidence in her handle is good, there were times she forced too much into traffic. Leading to turnovers or low percentage shot attempts. After being a key part of a deep State Tournament run for KIPP, Lovett has the potential to be a riser this summer.
In the game watched, Adney opened it with a nice corner three. But she quickly settled into the role of a distributor for her squad. She was often getting downhill, making a help defender slid over, then slipping a nice pass to an open teammate. Along with the creation on drives, she generally kept the ball moving, by making the extra pass to help her team get a great look over a good look.
Table setter for a good team, Meissinger did a good job of keeping the ball moving and elevating her team’s floor. She can get paint touches, which did help create good looks for her teammates. In the games watched on Saturday, her finshing was off. Marking that as a potential area of improvment, so she can be a more complete threat at the next level.
A quality two guard, she got after it on the defensive end. Getting on the floor for loose balls, active hands to poke out sloppy dribbles or being in the passing lanes. She was quieter as a scorer, but had a couple nice drives. Including one where a ball fake froze the defense, allowing her to finish through contact for an old fashion three point play.
Good athlete, excelled in doing the dirty work for her 4-0 Dynasty team. She hit the glass hard, especially on the offensive end for second chance points. Shelton finished strongly around the basket, even hitting on tough post up attempts. Outstanding motor and effort in the second half, to outwork the opposition.
