With PGH’s recent release of its Class of 2021 player rankings, the first of three class rankings, we wanted to breakdown 10 newcomers to the rankings. Gathering and analyzing as much information as possible, was a tall task but we were able to do our best to get as many quality players listed for this much needed and anticipated update. Here we look at 10 newcomers to our rankings! [player_tooltip player_id="161986" first="Chorus" last="Davis"] Ι CG Ι Lincoln Prep Ι #10 A strong skilled guard that had one of the better seasons in Missouri. Having to lead a team that was missing its best player, while still playing a tough conference in Kansas City is not something most players could do. Chorus stepped up big time and delivered for her Lincoln Prep squad. She plays the game at a great pace, is an excellent on-ball defender, and uses her solid frame to really attack the basket off the bounce. Her ability to affect the game in so many ways enabled her to really showcase her skill set, which has also turned into her first offer from Delaware State University. [player_tooltip player_id="161988" first="Aliyah" last="Williams"] Ι PG Ι Parkway North Ι #15 Being an undersized player can sometimes keep a player from really competing at a high level. This is not the case for the 5’4" [player_tooltip player_id="161988" first="Aliyah" last="Williams"]. The junior point guard can flat out hoop and she does not back down out on the court. She has a great feel for the game, especially playing out of the pick and roll. Her speed and quickness allow her to offset her lack of height. Aliyah has a nice mid-range game and can knock down threes at a consistent clip. With 12 games scoring 20 or more points, Aliyah will be a great addition to any D1 or D2 program. [player_tooltip player_id="149705" first="Aliyah" last="Green"] Ι PF Ι Ray-Pec Ι #19 Being a post player in today’s game is not easy. With most players wanting to grow their game to play on the perimeter, it is always refreshing to see a player really thrive in the post. The 6’2" Aliyah green quietly had a really solid season for the lady panthers. She averaged a double-double and shot 46% from the floor. Aliyah played to strengths and used her track speed and quickness to run the floor and crash the boards. She never forced anything and is a terror facing up and attacking the basket. Her quick first jump and high motor will fit in well at any college level for sure. [player_tooltip player_id="162338" first="Autumn" last="Wallace"] Ι PF Ι Climax Springs Ι #37 Another gifted post forward that averaged a double-double this past season. Her ability to control the paint without fouling and play through contact, allowed her to earn her Class 1 All-State selection. Solid footwork in the post and she has the ability to attack the basket off the dribble. [player_tooltip player_id="150008" first="Lauren" last="Gillig"] Ι SG Ι Blue Springs South Ι #42 The first team All-District selection has great length and plays hard on both ends. An elite shooter from three with a smooth release. She has great speed and an outstanding ability to play passing lanes. She has solid handles getting to the basket and her ability to move without the ball is advanced. As a guard, Lauren can play with her back to the basket but she excels out on the perimeter. I look for an even better senior season and could easily see Lauren playing at the D3 or NAIA level and having a solid impact. [player_tooltip player_id="168019" first="Dori" last="McRaven"] Ι SF Ι West County Ι #29 A solid forward that really competes on defense. Dori can really light things up from three with her quick and compact release. Her defensive ability to run the floor and block shots without fouling is excellent. She doesn’t force things off the dribble and really fights in the post on defense. Dori has a real good feel for the game. Her instincts and basketball IQ would translate well to the NAIA level. [player_tooltip player_id="168022" first="Kelsey" last="Blakemore"] Ι CG Ι Whitfield Ι #22 A solid and strong combo guard had a breakout season this past year. Helping lead her squad to the Class 3 Final Four with her all-around play. Kelsey is a complete guard. She guards her position very well, runs the team from the point at times, and can play off the ball where she shoots it very well from three. She can get to the basket on any player and has creativity getting there. Her ability to get in the paint to rebound and defend, helps her get fast break opportunities started with a rebound or block. As Kelsey continues to improve, her all-around skill set would be a welcome addition to any D2, 3, or NAIA school. [player_tooltip player_id="106877" first="Jaliyah" last="Green"] Ι CG Ι Holt Ι #18 An electric guard with the ball in her hands. She plays with confidence and with no fear. Jaliyah is a complete scorer of the rock. She can attack the basket off the bounce with creativity, excels at taking and making tough shots off the dribble; especially from three. She has imitless range from three as she gets her shot off very quickly. She has excellent playmaking ability and really understands how to play without the ball. Her ability to change directions and attack her defender sets her apart from other guards, Jaliyah skill set and competitive nature would be a great addition to any Low-Major D1 or D2 school. [player_tooltip player_id="106873" first="Makaiya" last="Brooks"] Ι CG Ι Springfield Central Ι #6 Another gifted combo guard that can fill it up from anywhere on the court. Makaiya had a breakout season this past year, being named 1st Team All-Conference and MBCA All-State Class 5 selection. She is very creative with her handles and finishes at the basket. Her pull up mid-range game is the best in the state in my opinion and she sees plays before they are there. A solid defender on the perimeter and in the post. She gets into her shot quickly and with little effort. A hidden gem no more with her offer from Grand Canyon University, look for more offers and from more Low-Major D1 and D2 schools. [player_tooltip player_id="106896" first="Naudia" last="Evans"] Ι CG Ι Waynesville Ι #5 A dynamic combo guard with range off the dribble beyond the three-point line. There is no shot Naudia can not make on offense; very creative making space and attacking the basket off the dribble. She uses her length to get steals and blocks on defense. Her ability to use her speed and agility on both defense and offense, along with her feel for the game and court instincts set her apart from other players. She can get to any spot on the court and simply is not afraid to take and make big-time shots. Her breakout season this past year earned her All-Conference Defensive team, 1st Team All-Conference and MBCA Class 5 All-State selections. Easily a great addition to any low-major D1 or D2 schools.
