Below are the Top 5 sophomores in the Green Bay and Fox Valley area. These sophomores have already shown how impressive they are on the basketball court and are players to keep in eye on as we begin summer action.
Emily La Chapell Emily La Chapell 5'11" | CG Appleton East | 2022 State #57 Nation WI | 5’10 CG | Appleton East | Flight Elite
La Chapell is currently ranked second overall in her class by Prep Girls Hoops. She had a super impressive season and showed she could impact the game in multiple ways. She is long and lean, making for a high release on her shot that is hard to defend. The Appleton East standout runs the floor well and doesn’t shy away from contact in transition. In a win over Freedom she scored a season-high 35 points for her team. A great floor general as well, La Chapell does a great job getting her teammates involved. She currently holds offers from Utah, Green Bay, Marquette, Milwaukee and Wisconsin.
Jordan Meulemans Jordan Meulemans 5'10" | CG De Pere | 2022 State WI | 5’11 CG | De Pere | Flight Elite
Meulemans is an extremely athletic guard. She has a rare combination of size and skill that makes her super efficient attacking the basket. She has quick handles and a variety of crafty moves attacking the basket. She developed into a great mid range scorer for De Pere this season. Meulemans averaged 17.1 points per game during her sophomore season. She pushes the ball in transition while having great court vision for her teammates. She averaged nearly 3 assists per game. She really stands out for her rebounding as well. Playing the guard position, Meulemans still finds a way to impact the game with her boards. She averaged 5.3 rebounds per game. She currently holds offers from Creighton, Green Bay, Illinois State, Marquette and Milwaukee.
Lily Hansford Lily Hansford 6'2" | SG Appleton East | 2022 State WI | 6’2 CG | Appleton East | Flight Elite
Hansford is another player that has an impressive combination of size and skill. She’s a pure shooter with so much confidence beyond the rim. She is range effective- taking shots from multiple spots on the perimeter. Hansford made 80 three point baskets during her sophomore season. She can create a game for herself while also excelling off the pass. She averaged 13 points per game. Hansford is a long defender who impacts the game with her ability to deflect a pass or alter an opponent’s shot. The Appleton East standout blocked 56 shots this season.
Kamy Peppler Kamy Peppler 5'9" | PG Hortonville | 2022 State WI | 5’6 G | Hortonville
Peppler really developed into a great floor general for Hortonville this season. She’s everything a teammate and coach look for in a point guard. She sets the pace on offense while remaining composed and patient. She’s an uptempo guard with great communication with her teammates on the floor. Peppler is confident with the ball and has impressive handles. She finds her teammates open well and doesn’t force anything on offense. A passing specialist for Hortonville, Peppler averaged 5.7 assists per game. She plays with so much composure and understands her role on the floor. If the team needs a bucket, Peppler makes sure that happens. She averaged 8.4 points per game during her sophomore season. Peppler is committed to play at UW Milwaukee.
Emma Krueger Emma Krueger 5'7" | CG Bay Port | 2022 State WI | 5’7 G | Bay Port
Krueger is a dynamic guard on both ends of the floor. She really stepped up on her Bay Port team this season and showed she can impact the game. She is scrappy on offense and can score in multiple ways. She fights for position well and attacks against contact in the lane. She put up great numbers for her team this season. The sophomore averaged 12.3 points per game. She added range to her perimeter shot and has confidence on the catch and shoot basket. She made 30 three point baskets. Krueger was such an offense threat this year and will be the go-to scorer next season as Bay Port lost some key seniors. In a game against Eau Claire Memorial, she scored 26 points. On defense, Krueger uses her body well to box out the defender and fight for boards.
