Aaliyah Harrison (2022) | Weequahic
Harrison made a name for herself in Newark in her sophomore season. She averaged 17.8 points per game and knocked down 67 free throws. She was a legit offensive threat from all three levels. On the defensive end, Harrison averaged 2.5 steals per contest. She had the responsibility of putting up big numbers on offense and guarding the opposing teams best player.
Tara Johnson Tara Johnson 5'9" | SG University | 2021 State NJ (2021) | University
Johnson is one of the top guards in the Class of 2021 and it is obvious. She is a duel threat player that can run an offense. Johnson averaged 15.5 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 3.3 steals per contest. University had a strong season led by Johnson. She was an elite level ball handler that thrived in the open court.
Destiny Hines (2022) | Newark Central
Hines averaged over 10 points per game this season. She will become an upperclassman as a point guard that has a great feel for the game. Hines is one to make the correct decision with the ball in her hands. She averaged over three steals per game on the defensive end and knocked down 33 three’s.
Aaliyah Amos (2021) | Arts
Amos is a point guard that does every little thing right on the floor. She averaged 3.3 steals per game and finished with 86 made free throws. Arts made a run in the state tournament and Amos played a big part in it. She used her ability to get in the lane and draw contact to her team’s advantage.
Emily Alers-Gonzalez (2021) | Newark East Side
Gonzalez was one of the biggest thieves in the state. She averaged 6.7 steals per game which was near the top of the category. She is a lock down defender that fits in perfectly at the most important position for Newark East Side. She is a solid player that can be penciled in every game and not have to worry about.
Anna Santos (2022) | West Side
West Side is one of the biggest schools in Newark. Their team always poses a threat and Santos will be a main contributor moving forward. She averaged 10.1 points per game in her sophomore season. Santos has a strong ability to shoot from deep and can get work done inside the paint as well.
