In an era of positionless basketball, we have a talented group of small forwards in the 2022 graduating class who all have different skill sets that set them apart from each other. These players have helped their respective teams to above-.500 records and some led their squads on deep runs in the playoffs. Lets take a look at these talented players. [player_tooltip player_id="117680" first="Kinzie" last="Whitehead"] (Legend) Standing at 5-foot-10, Whitehead has good athleticism to her game. She led her team in scoring with 9.1 points per game, and also had 6.3 rebounds and 2.9 steals a night. Whitehead shows the ability to put the ball on the floor and attack the rim. She scored a season-high 20 points midway through the season against Littleton. Whitehead has the ability to push pace and make plays in the open court. Whitehead is a willing shooter with good form to her shot and as she continues to improve her game, she can be a threat on both ends. [player_tooltip player_id="117686" first="Malia" last="Heien"] (Northfield) [caption id="attachment_150928" align="alignright" width="210"] [player_tooltip player_id="117686" first="Malia" last="Heien"][/caption] Heien stands a six feet tall and does a great job tracking the ball and securing it off a miss shot or on a lose ball. She was just shy of leading her team in points last season with an average of 12.2 per game, and can to get to the rim. Heien averaged a double-double this past year with 10.9 rebounds per game to go with her scoring production. She can be a tough matchup due to her ability to make the right reads, averaging 3.2 assists per game while nabbing 5.1 steals throughout her sophomore season. [player_tooltip player_id="117687" first="Jasmine" last="Arreola"] (Denver West) [caption id="attachment_144331" align="alignleft" width="236"] [player_tooltip player_id="117687" first="Jasmine" last="Arreola"][/caption] Arreola is one of the state’s leading scorers and puts up surprising rebounding numbers for a guard. She averaged 18.3 points and 12.9 rebounds per game for Denver West in 2019-20. This past year was her first playing on the varsity roster and she did not show any signs of slowing down when it came to her production. Arreola scored a season-high in points with 31 on 13-for-16 shooting from the field. She has relentless effort with 5.2 steals per game and averages 2.6 assists. A player that has made tremendous improvement, Arreola will be a threat on both ends as she continues to add value to her game. [player_tooltip player_id="117722" first="Edie" last="Morrow"] (Erie) [caption id="attachment_138917" align="alignright" width="250"] [player_tooltip player_id="117722" first="Edie" last="Morrow"][/caption] Morrow is a player that brings a lot of energy to her team with her ability to make the game uncomfortable for her opponents. She is second on her team in steals per game, averaging three a night for a total of 75 on the season. Playing on a very talented team with players that can score at will, she averaged 5.3 points per game. An able shooter, Morrow can get to the rim with different finishes around the basket and is a versatile player that averages 5.2 rebounds, one block and 3.1 assist. She has potential to be an excellent 3-and-D type of player, and possibly much more. [caption id="attachment_120592" align="alignleft" width="268"] [player_tooltip player_id="145558" first="Grace" last="Solarin"][/caption] [player_tooltip player_id="145558" first="Grace" last="Solarin"] (Rangeview) Solarin has good athleticism for her position, standing at 5-foot-10. She does well at making the right reads in transition and can push the pace after grabbing a rebound. Solarin shows the ability to knock down shots from the midrange, shooting 72 for 184 (39 percent). She averaged 7.0 points and 6.4 rebounds a game. She has been making strides and as she continues to improve, Solarin will be a tough player to stop on the court. Solarin scored a season high in points with 16 midway through the past season.
