April Showers Bring Breakout Stars

April kicked off the club season with exciting games and tournaments, as athletes delivered breakout performances on courts across the region. Whether catching the action live or breaking down film, a handful of players stole the spotlight. Here are a few of April's brightest breakout performances.    Herbek has had a tremendous start to her summer campaign, lighting up multiple tournaments with her dynamic play. She dropped a team-high 15 points in her second game in California, knocking down multiple open catch-and-shoot threes with confidence. At Session 1 of the Adidas 3SSB Circuit, Herbek stayed aggressive, connecting on a high percentage of her shots from deep. Her efforts earned her several Standout honors as she continues to turn heads. With April's momentum, Herbek is poised for a breakout summer.     Schneider's April performance is a continuation of her breakout year at University High School. She is a fearless, physical player, always looking to attack the basket with her size and strength. Schneider uses her signature spin move to gain an advantage over her defenders for easy scores around the rim. On defense, she hustles for loose balls and intercepts passes in State 38's press. As she sharpens her game this summer, Schneider is setting the stage for a stellar junior year.     Zadeh is an aggressive defender who excels at applying on-ball pressure. Her quickness allows her to keep ball handlers in front of her, as well as allowing her to pick off passes when she is at the top of State 38's press. Offensively, she uses a variety of moves as she attacks the basket with force. Zadeh converts easy buckets, creates contact, draws fouls, and gets to the free-throw line. Zadeh's performance thus far is a great sign of continued growth in her game.     Solano has emerged as one of the most improved players this April. Her tenacity on defense is a huge factor in her improvement. Her activity level is high, and she uses her hands well to deflect passes and score in transition. One of her highlights thus far was a steal, followed by a spin move in transition to get by her defender for a smooth layup. Solano is also showing signs of being able to knock down outside jump shots as well. This month could be the springboard to a breakout summer.     Gipson dazzled with outstanding performances in an iHoops tournament earlier this April. She showcased her ability to get to the basket with several smooth and assertive drives. Gibson finished through contact and had multiple nice dishes to set up her teammates for quality looks. As the floor general for her 7070 17U squad, Gibson orchestrated the offense with poise. The junior guard looks ready to make a major impact this summer.
