Continue ReadingThe class of 2022 in the state of Massachusetts is loaded with Division 1 caliber players at the top, but there are also some sleeper prospects who would’ve benefitted from starting the AAU season on time. Nonetheless, watch out for these players when competitive basketball begins again.
While many of the top players are committed to the colleges of their choice, here are five under of my under the radar players in Massachusetts in the class of 2021. Players included on this list stood out to me during the course of their careers.
Rachel Barach, Concord-Carlisle/Bay State Jaguars
At 6-foot-1 with a strong outside shot, Barach’s development over the next season is likely most key to where she ends up playing in college. Barach averaged 12 points and 7 rebounds per game in 2019-20. She is streaky, but has a lot of skills that college coaches look for. Barach can create off the dribble and is a standout player on the offensive end.
Tayla Barros, Cathedral/Boston Showstoppers
The 5-foot-9 guard is developing more into a playmaker as her high school career goes on. She plays on a loaded high school team in a weak division, but is fantastic without the ball and understands spacing at a high level. Barros’s offensive arsenal at Cathedral is predicated on her teammates, and she always makes them look good with her passing. Barros is used to not being the top option and accepts her role, which will pay dividends in her college career.
HALF: Cathedral leads Matignon 28-16. Mackenzie Daleba 10 points and 8 rebounds, Ariana Vanderhoop 9 points for Cathedral. Emma Found leads Matignon with 7 points @GlobeSchools

Taylor Lambo, Watertown/MA Huskies
Unafraid to mix it up in the post, Lambo is a bit undersized for her position at 5-foot-10, but it makes no difference in the results of her game. She exudes confidence and has an array of back to the basket moves. Lambo flies under the radar at Watertown, but averaged 15 points and 12 rebounds per game in a solid league.
Andrea Turner, Malden Catholic/EVO
Like Cathedral, Malden Catholic plays in the lowest division in Massachusetts. The program just completed its first varsity season, and Turner was by far the team’s best player. The 5-foot-6 guard is crafty off the dribble and a tenacious on-ball defender. It’s hard to tell at what division she’ll play collegiately, but wherever Turner lands, she’ll be successful. Turner averaged 15.1 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals per game
Erin Reen, Norwod/NEX
Put simply, Reen is an absolute gamer. The 5-foot-5 guard is a ball of fire and plays with endless tenacity. Despite her size, Reen is aggressive off the dribble and welcomes contact. Reen is a two-way player, and her ability to lock up the opponent’s top scoring guard makes her even more exciting to watch. Her game is not extremely flashy, but Reen is a winner. She averaged 8.2 points, 5.8 rebounds 2.8 steals and 2.7 assists per game this past season for a young team that made some noise in the state tournament.
