AAU Team Preview – NCWV Swish 2023

The North Central West Virginia (NCWV) Swish 2023s are coming off a 2019 season when they captured the Teammate Basketball National Championship tournament in Pigeon Forge. Much of the team returns including a pair of 6-3 stalwarts in the paint that has coach David Sturm thinking a big-centric offense may be the way to go. Leading the way is [player_tooltip player_id="157703" first="Reagan" last="Vinskovich"], a second-team all-Ohio performer at Union Local in Belmont, Ohio as a freshman. Vinskovich averaged 19.2 and 11 per game and moves well for her size both with and without the ball. Her partner in the paint is coming off knee surgery but should be back on the court shortly. That is Alex Martin from Bridgeport (W.Va.). “Certainly with one and definitely with both on the floor, you have to account for them,” Sturm said. “We have to get Reagan the ball in her hands, Alexa too. “They will be a big part of the offense and will create matchup problems.” That’s not to say Sturm plans to slow the tempo or lean solely on his bigs. His daughter Jaden Sturm played a big role for a tough Lincoln High team as a freshman. Eden is like another coach on the floor. Addie Elliott - Brings instant energy and a physical style of play. Addie is the kid that gives everything she has and is always smiling. Emily Sharkey - Sharkey is one of our top scorers and instant offense. No situation is ever too big for her and she works daily at becoming a better player. Megan Malin - Megan is a talented player that plays bigger than her size. She is fundamentally sound and always seems to be a step ahead of others on the court. Brooklyn Markley - Brooklyn is new to our program this year and is a very hard worker that gets better each day. We love how she plays the game. Jaden Sturm - A 5-10 player that handles, shoots, and passes the ball like a guard. Jaden is a very smart player and does a lot of the little things that people don’t always see. Kolie Anderson - Kolie can play in the paint, slash to the bucket, and then bring the ball down the floor. Her biggest asset is often her defense which translates to offense much of the time. Hannah Raper - Another sharpshooting perimeter player that also will make the extra pass when needed. Hannah is another player that can easily play a number of positions. Avery Childers - Avery has really improved over the last year and has become a scorer and strong rebounder for our team. She doesn’t get nervous and handles the ball one moment, then is bodying up in the paint the next. Emily Denison - Emily may be the most athletic player on our team. She can run and jump and gets better each day. She wants to improve and will be a force for others to deal with. Standing 6-3, Reagan has only scratched the surface of how good she can be. With her ability, her size, and most importantly, her work ethic, Reagan can be a star.
