Zanai Jones Zanai Jones 5'5" | PG Hudson Catholic | 2021 State NJ (2021) | Hudson Catholic
The HCIAL has two of the top point guards in the state and we’ll start with Jones. She is a do it all guard that is best with the ball in her hands. Jones averaged 18.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game as a junior. She added 3.7 steals per contest. Jones is a two-way guard that runs Hudson Catholic’s offense to perfection.
Eniya Scott Eniya Scott 5'6" | PG Bayonne | 2022 State NJ (2022) | Bayonne
Along with Jones, Scott is one of the best point guards in New Jersey. As a sophomore, she burst onto the scene with 14.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game. Scott also showed the ability to be a duel-threat with 3.7 steals per game. Bayonne won 25 games this season with Scott running the point and it should continue next season.
Maddie Branigan Maddie Branigan 6'0" | PF St. Dominic | 2023 State NJ (2023) | St. Dominic
Branigan was one of the top performers in the Class of 2023. She led St. Dominic in points and rebounds in her first season. She also led the team in free throw shooting. Branigan proved to be a dominant force on the block that could score using a wide range of skills. She has a soft touch around the rim and knows how to get good position on her defender.
Kyra Rose (2022) | Marist
Marist was one of the top teams in the conference this season and they are returning many key players. They have a lot of talent in the Class of 2022 and it begins with Rose. She is the team’s leading returning scorer. She can take over a game from anywhere on the floor. Having her back means Marist will be near the top once again.
Esmerelda Ruiz (2021) | Kearny
Kearny is losing Samantha Osorio which is a huge departure. This leaves Ruiz as one of their main options. She knocked down 31 three’s and proved to be a scorer at all three levels. Kearny will contend in the HCIAL once again with Ruiz running the show.
