Class rankings are one animal, but it is time to dive deeper and rank the most important position on the floor regardless of class. New Jersey basketball is full of top prospects and it does not matter what grade they are in. 1. [player_tooltip player_id="134606" first="Olivia" last="Miles"] (2021) | Blair- The Notre Dame commit is the clear-cut leader of the position. She is currently ranked No. 2 in the nation by ESPN. Miles is an extremely agile guard that can do it all on both ends. 2. [player_tooltip player_id="134626" first="Madison" last="St. Rose"] (2022) | St. John Vianney- St. Rose was named New Jersey Player of the Year by NJ.com as a sophomore. She thrives as a scorer for St. John Vianney and was near the top of the state in steals. St. Rose is a duel-threat that will land at a high-level Division I program. 3. [player_tooltip player_id="134628" first="Saniah" last="Caldwell"] (2022) | Saddle Day River- The sophomore class is full of duel-threat talent and Caldwell might be the best. She was third in the state in steals thanks to her quickness. Caldwell knew how to use her athleticism and quickness to get in the lane and score around the rim. 4. [player_tooltip player_id="134618" first="Zanai" last="Jones"] (2021) | Hudson Catholic- A breakout campaign as a junior turned Jones into one of the top point guards in the state. She proved she could score at all three levels or find her teammates in position in rhythm. 5. [player_tooltip player_id="134634" first="Eniya" last="Scott"] (2022) | Bayonne- Scott served as a coach on the floor for a 25 win Bayonne team. She led the sophomore class in assists. She is a gifted passer, scorer and rebounder. Bayonne is in good hands with Scott running the show for the next two years. 6. [player_tooltip player_id="134644" first="Zoe" last="Brooks"] (2023) | Trenton Catholic- Brooks is one half of a dynamic duo of freshman for Trenton Catholic. She took over the point guard position in stride in her first season. Brooks is a do it all guard that is already one of the top prospects to watch. 7. [player_tooltip player_id="134617" first="Nia" last="Melvin"] (2021) | Stuart Day- Stuart Day is known for their play on the post thanks to two incredible bigs. Melvin keeps things organized on the perimeter. She is a strong decision maker with a high IQ with the ball in her hands. 8. [player_tooltip player_id="134645" first="Hannah" last="Hidalgo"] (2023) | Paul VI- Hidalgo is a nationally ranked prospect and for good reason. She burst onto the scene as a freshman as a guard that can completely take over a game on both ends. She will continue to rise and be one of the top players in the state during her upperclass years. 9. [player_tooltip player_id="134640" first="Erika" last="Mercedes"] (2022) | Union City- Union City has another top guard in Mercedes. She is a game manager in the highest regard. The offense is always running smoothly with Mercedes in charge. 10. [player_tooltip player_id="134621" first="Abigail" last="Antognoli"] (2021) | St. Rose- When St. Rose needs a big play, they know where to turn. Antognoli is best in a scoring role and that is exactly why she is one of the top point guards in the state.
