The Next Wave Is Here

Here are five young players who are going to make waves in the near future.    Julianna earned Second Team All-Shore honors as a sophomore and is on pace to reach 1,000 points next season. She's effective in the pick-and-roll, rolling to the basket and finishing with length over defenders. She makes a strong impact in the paint on both ends and can step out to knock down mid-range shots when left open, adding versatility to her game.     Allison closed the season strong, scoring 10+ points in 12 of her final 13 games, including 17 points and 8 rebounds in a sectional championship win. She finishes well through contact at the rim and can also knock down shots from three. Defensively, she applies heavy ball pressure, often picking up full court and making it difficult for opponents to get into their offense.     Avanna earned MVP honors at the Prep vs Public Girls Showcase with her strong all-around play. She's a reliable finisher at the rim and does a great job protecting the ball from defenders. She can knock down threes from the top of the key when left open and consistently makes the right reads, setting up her teammates for easy scoring opportunities.     Valentina excels at reading the game defensively, jumping passing lanes and turning turnovers into easy points in transition. She finishes well at the rim with either hand and has deep range from beyond the arc, knocking down threes even from well behind the line. Her shooting ability makes it extremely difficult for defenses to sit in a zone against her team.     Abigail is a crafty finisher around the basket who plays with great feel. She sees the floor well and sets up her teammates while also finishing through contact for and-one opportunities. Her length allows her to shoot over defenders with ease, and she uses smooth spin moves into fadeaways to create space and score efficiently.
