2021
Taylor Jarrels Taylor Jarrels 5'8" | SG Lamar Consolidated | 2021 State TX – Houston Dream (Lamar Consolidated)
Jarrels put on an opening scoring exhibition as she simply found ways to put the ball in the basket and from taking defenders from the wing and finishing strongly to dropping consistent mid to long-range shots, and by long-range I mean deep, she was on fire
Dezaree Walker-Skyrise Edmond (Angleton)
Walker was just amazing, her ability to catch and shoot the three was overshadowed by her being able to create her shot under pressure and get to wherever she wanted and her ability to hit that pull-up jumper from midrange over and over had me shaking my head
Jaycie Brisco Jaycie Brisco 5'11" | SG Snook | 2021 State TX -Lady Thunder 17U (Snook)
Brisco comes from a small school and played on a team that basically played locally but “talent is everywhere” folks and watching her show me she can play multiple positions at the Lady Thunder combine I snuck in on was a preview of her throwing no looks on the money and doing so much the average person doesn’t look for, but I ain’t average and this kid can play, the pull-up is hard to handle, attacking the rim as well, she can go
2022
Alyssa Freeman -LC Defenders
Freeman stole the show after playing the passing lane and getting steals galore, few things excite me but simple things like that actually do and her being active on defense created offense and speaking create, she does that under pressure, nice jumper and relentlessly attacks the basket
Sydney Maxwell- DC Queens Barnett (Clear Falls)
Maxwell has come a very long way since I saw her at the Peggy Whitley Classic, players named Sydney always stay in my head but her upside still isn’t touched and that’s scary because she has size, strength, power yet she also has finesse and is able to score nicely in the paint, either with her back to the basket or facing it
Keasia Robinson Keasia Robinson 6'2" | PF Dobie | 2022 State TX -Showtime Queens Elite (Dobie)
Robinson isn’t a Crusoe, she’s long and athletic and after starting off relatively slow, she turned it up so much I had to ask for her name, yes I’ll do that if you’re that girl and at 6’2 and athletic, she will be going to school somewhere. The finished product hasn’t dried off but it’s definitely going to be nice
2023
Talibah Curtis-Reps Up (Thurgood Marshall)
Curtis goes hard and plays smart, hits the midrange and also battles for rebounds, on both ends of the court but I really like her upside as she plays smart and within herself and does many of those things that won’t necessarily show up in the box score yet I see them
Nila Richardson- DC Queens Richards (Navasota)
Richardson is one of those players on the verge of breaking out, she’s speedy and athletic yet also plays under control but that first step is dangerous as it gives her options to either blow by defenders or drop the mid to long-range and what also helps is that she can handle the ball
2024
Emrie Holt Emrie Holt 5'3" | PG Episcopal | 2024 State TX – Rytes Warriors (Episcopal)
HOLT in all caps because #sizedontmatter when you can play, at least not to me and when I first saw her, I saw a speedy guard making steals and layups yet she sees the floor and make pinpoint passes under pressure but that “floater” definitely got my attention and her shooting kept it
Heather Baymon Heather Baymon 5'6" | PG Langham Creek | 2024 State TX -Texas Elite Adidas 2024 DAddieco
Baymon falls into that “faster than a speeding bullet” group of players that more importantly “can handle the ball going full speed”. The pull-up is solid, always has been as she made a Tip Sheet the moment I saw her and her energy just trickles down to her teammates
2025
Jena Warden-SETX
Warden is still a baby yet she doesn’t know it because she played in the high school division and as much as I’ve loved watching her the past 3 years, I was overly impressed with her poise against older and stronger players as she simply wouldn’t back down and scored repeatedly while also rebounding
