INTRO
The Michigan Cagers have a track record of success, having seen 105 players receive scholarships to play at the next level. The Michigan Cagers 2021, led by Coach Selvia, brings a uniquely talented squad this grassroots season. The roster is made up of all varsity starters and key players at their respective high schools. This Michigan Cagers team is personified by their ability to play at a fast pace and the numerous shooters on their roster. A number of the athletes on this team hold multiple scholarship offers.
GOALS
"Our goals as a team this year are the same every year; Creating unforgettable memories and lifetime friendships. Help each other attain our academic and athletic goals. Ultimately preparing each player to be key contributors on their high school varsity teams and play at the college level." - Coach Selvia
ROSTER
#0 Carah McCrum (2023, 5’11", SF, Bay City John Glenn) "Carah is our youngest player. Carah brings size and physical prescience to our team. She has a nice touch around the rim and can control the key. She is a very coachable player." - Coach Selvia #3 [player_tooltip player_id="175995" first="Olivia" last="Carpenter"] (2021, 5’9", PG/SG, Midland) "[player_tooltip player_id="175995" first="Olivia" last="Carpenter"] is a 1st year player for the Cagers. Olivia is a long athletic player that can get after it on defense. She is extremely quick. She likes to drive the lane and finishes at the rim. She has a nice mid range jump shot and can score quickly. She is a nice addition to our Cagers." - Coach Selvia #5 Leveesa Clark (2022, 5’7", SG/SF, Fowlerville) "Leveesa is a defensive nightmare to players. She is one of the best defensive players I have coached in a long time. She is smart, has a high IQ. She can score and in very unselfish." - Coach Selvia #10 [player_tooltip player_id="138321" first="Sydney" last="Caddell"] (2021, 5’3", SG, Hartland) "Sydney is a player that goes 100 percent every time she is on the court. She plays tough and aggressive for her size. She has a nice outside shot and floater in the lane. Sydney disrupts the flow of the game for opposing guards. She brings high tempo on the court." - Coach Selvia #15 [player_tooltip player_id="138306" first="Carly" last="McCrum"] (2021, 5’11", Bay City John Glenn) "Carly is very athletic, long and a lefty. Carly is a tremendous shot blocker. Carly has one of the sweetest shooting forms and can knock down deep shots. She can play just about every position. She is a natural scorer and unbelievable passer. Carly is so talented and fun to coach." - Coach Selvia #20 [player_tooltip player_id="138310" first="Alex" last="Long"] (2021, 5’6", SG, Flushing) "Alex is one if the best shooters in the state. She has a quick trigger and can hit from anywhere. Despite her size she makes up for it with her athleticism. She can post you up, beat you off the dribble, and shoot the deep 3. Tough to guard. High basketball IQ and great court vision." - Coach Selvia #22 [player_tooltip player_id="147744" first="Olivia" last="Dirkse"] (2022, 5’8", PG, Davison) "[player_tooltip player_id="147744" first="Olivia" last="Dirkse"] is the TOP 2022 point guard in Michigan. She can guard ANY player of any size. She is a true point guard that can distribute. She can go by anyone at anytime. She can score in bunches and control the game. She is a leader and has incredible court vision." - Coach Selvia #24 [player_tooltip player_id="138387" first="Brooklyn" last="Grissom"] (2021, 5’6", SG, Flushing) "Brooklyn is a player that does a lot of the things players don’t get credit for. She gets the 50/50 balls, she like to drive the basket and is not afraid to mix it up at her size. She has a strong left hand and a nice 3 point shot." - Coach Selvia #30 [player_tooltip player_id="138309" first="Lillee" last="Gustafson"] (2021, 6’0", PF, Hartland) "Lillee is a big piece to our team. She controls the paint, she is one of the best rebounders I have coached. She is a vacuum cleaner on the boards. She runs the floor like a point guard at 6’0. She has nice hands around the basket and can finish. She is a leader. There are not many players that can do what Lillee does." - Coach Selvia #44 [player_tooltip player_id="138365" first="Meghan" last="Marshall"] (2021, 5’9", SG, Lake Orion) "Meghan is a 1st year player for the Cagers . Meghan can play PG/SG/PF. Meghan is a strong rebounder. She can shoot outside at a high percentage. She is not afraid to attack the basket. She has solid court vision. She is a nice addition to our Cagers." - Coach Selvia
TENTATIVE SCHEDULE
July 5-8 USJN Premier Showcase Indianapolis July 9 USJN Indy 100 July 10-12 Hooiser Heat Classic Indianapolis July 18-19 LBI Summer Sizzler Grand Rapids August 1-2 Michigan Top 10 Grand Rapids August 14-16 LBI Mitten Summer Ypsilanti September 13 Cagers Invitational Swartz Creek .
