The Massachusetts class of 2021 contains several Division 1 commits, even outside the top five. Here’s a look at the best of the best rising seniors in the state.
Honorable mention: Bella Nascimento, Worcester Academy/Rivals
Let it be known that the Manhattan commit has pledged to play her final season of high school hoops in Phoenix, Ariz. with the newly formed PHH Prep Fire girls basketball program. The 5-foot-8 lead guard is a tenacious scorer and earned NEPSAC Class AA Honorable Mention honors in 2019-20. Nascimento would likely be No. 3 if she still played in Massachusetts
No. 5: Kenzie Matulonis, Bridgewater-Raynham/Bay State Jaguars
A feisty point guard committed to New Hampshire, Matulonis is an elite defender. The 5-foot-6 lead guard is shifty and creative around the basket and is adept at finishing around and through contact. Matulonis averaged 10.9, 5.7 assists, 5.6 rebounds and 4.2 steals per game last season.

No. 4: Maiya Bergdorf, St. Mary’s/MCW Starz – A transfer from Belmont High School, the 6-foot-1 Bergdorf turned in her finest high school season to date in 2019-20. Bergdorf led her squad to a share of the 2020 MIAA Division 3 state title, stuffing the stat sheet with 15.2 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. Bergdorf is creative in the post and has solid 3-point range on her jumper. Bergdorf is committed to Sacred Heart.

No. 3: Nariah Scott, Tabor Academy/Bay State Jaguars
The Providence commit picked up a few solid mid-major and offers, but stick with the nearby Friars, who offered the 5-foot-10 guard during her sophomore season. Scott is known to elevate her game on the AAU scene.

No. 2: Alexandra Giannaros, Tabor/Bay State Jaguars
Giannaros plays with a never-ending motor and verbally committed to Boston University early in her junior season. The 5-foot-8 guard captured NEPSAC Class AA Honorable Mention honors last season, and is a likely candidate for an All-NEPSAC nod next season. Giannaros averaged 15.9 points, 4 rebounds and and 3.4 assists per game last season.

No. 1: Carolinee Ducharme Carolinee Ducharme 6'1" | SG Noble & Greenough School | 2021 MA , Nobles/Exodus NYC
Ducharme is committed to UConn, and that’s all you really need to know about Prep Hoops’ 15th ranked player nationally in the class of 2021. The reigning NEPSAC Class AA Player of the Year and Massachusetts Gatorade Player of the Year led Nobles to the Class AA title this past season. The 6-foot-2 guard/forward posted 24.8 points, 14 rebounds and 6.9 assists per game. Ducharme does it all, and despite two significant injuries early in her high school career, could very well finish her prep career with two Massachusetts Gatorade Player of the Year awards. You likely won’t find any defenders in New England that can match up with Ducharme.
