These rising sophomores are just at the outset of their high school careers, but that hasn’t stopped college coaches from flocking to their games.
Here’s a look at the top players in the Massachusetts class of 2023:
No. 5: Yirsy Queliz, St. Mary’s/MCW STARZ
Watch Queliz, and her poise on the court that immediately stands out. The 5-foot-5 point guard is a natural floor general, and her game is polished. Queliz can create off the dribble and is adept at finding openings in the lane. Queliz, who represents the Dominican Republic national team on the FIBA circuit, has some Division 1 interest.
No. 4: Thai Davis, Beaver Country Day/Bay State Jaguars
An All-NEPSAC Class C honoree this past season, the 5-foot-5 guard plays for high school and AAU programs known for developing guards. Davis is solid both in the half court and in transition. Her court vision is also advanced. In the video below, Davis looks like she’s almost always in the right place at the right time.
No. 3: Sheyenne Swain-Price, Dexter Southfield/Boston Showstoppers
The NEPSAC Class C Player of the Year as a freshman, Swain-Price put herself on the map early. The 6-foot-1 forward dominated a strong prep school conference by averaging 14.7 points and 11.5 rebounds per game. Swain-Price welcomes contact, and has a bevy of moves to unleash near the basket. It’s clear that Swain-Price has the talent to back up her confident play.
No. 2: Alana Scott, Bradford Christian Academy/Rivals
One of two freshmen to make the All-NEPSAC Class AA roster, the 5-foot-9 combo guard averaged 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists per game in 2019-20. Even with UConn commit Piath Gabriel as a teammate, Scott often led a loaded Bradford Christian Academy team in scoring. Scott is one of the top bucket getters in New England. A re-class, Scott owns offers from Merrimack and Bryant.
Rival ‘23 @alana_scott11 is a 5’9 smooth athletic guard who is a natural born scorer ! Scores at all three levels on the floor and makes it look easy ! Talent wise could be the best scorer in our region! Holds offers from Merrimack and Bryant ! 4.67gpa . pic.twitter.com/9A9fUlCFGF

No. 1: Sophia Vital, Tabor/Bay State Jaguars
Don’t let the 5-foot-2 height fool you, Vital is absolutely electric. Her court vision is ridiculous, as is her propensity for unselfish play. Vital is a re-class after spending her first two high school seasons at Cambridge Rindge and Latin. She posted multiple 30 point games during the MIAA playoffs, ultimately earning Boston Globe Super Team honors. Vital averaged an insane 14.9 points, 8 assists, 6.2 steals and 5.3 rebounds per game for Cambridge this past winter. She’ll thrive with even more talented teammates at Tabor, and build on her handful of Division 1 offers.
Cambridge’s Sophia Vital gets the layup to go and the foul. She’s up to 15 points and 12 assists. Cambridge leads 50-47 with 1:52 left in regulation @GlobeSchools pic.twitter.com/1fA0Bwl51r
