Aaliyah Harrison (2022) | Weequahic
Harrison led Newark in scoring this season. She finished with 17.7 points per game as a sophomore. Those numbers will only continue to rise. She knocked down 11 three’s but did her best work from the post. Harrison is a smart player on the floor that knows how to get the best of her defenders from anywhere on the court.
Tara Johnson Tara Johnson 5'9" | SG University | 2021 State NJ (2021) | University
Johnson led a 24 win University team in scoring last season. She scored 15.5 points per contest which was among the leaders in Newark. Johnson is an elite ball handler that can run the break with ease. She is quick with or without the ball. Johnson is always moving on the offensive end looking for a spot to score.
Aaliyah Amos (2021) | Arts
Amos led Arts in scoring this season. They made a run in the state tournament as a low seed behind the scoring prowess of Amos. She scored double-figures in both wins and did it from all over the floor. Amos will return as a scorer to keep an eye on throughout the season.
Anisha Able (2022) | Barringer
Able was the leading rebounder in New Jersey this season with 347 total boards. She was also dynamic on the offensive end. Able led Barringer with 14.5 points per game. She used her size to gain an advantage in the post. She knew how to get position on her defender and score around the rim.
Alma Abubakari (2023) | North Star
Abubakari burst onto the scene as a freshman. North Star got themselves a true scorer that can take over a game. She is a capable rebounder as well but thrives on the offensive end. She gets in the lane with ease using her shifty ball handling ability.
Brianna Carter Michel (2021) | Newark East Side
When Newark East Side needed a play, they turned to Michel to make it. She showed up time and time again to score a big basket for her team. She did most of her work down low using her soft touch around the rim.
