Below is a list of prospects who have stood out for their success so far this summer and should be on the radar of college coaches and other teams in their path.
These players have high ceilings and have continued to improve each time on the court during the grassroots season.
Sarah Newcomer | Pewaukee | WI Impact | 5’9 G
Newcomer has become a standout guard for her WI Impact team. She has incredible court vision and a high basketball IQ. She moves well without the ball and even better with the ball in her hands. She’s comfortable running the offense and has great ball handles. Newcomer does well attacking the lane and finishing strong against contact. She is an advanced pure scorer for her squad. She has a great feel for the game offensively and knows how to get to her spots (which is pretty much any jump shot). She plays with so much confidence on the floor as well. She is not fazed by missing a few shots either, she will continue to shoot even if she is in a slump. Newcomer plays better off the ball but can still create her own shot, especially in transition. She works well off screens curls, cuts and flares. She has a high ceiling and will find a way to put up numbers at any level.
Lianna Baxter Lianna Baxter 6'1" | PF Aquinas | 2022 State WI | Bay Port | Purple Aces | 5’7 G
A super quick guard who handles pressure so well. Krueger excels at running the offense for her Purple Aces team. She’s an efficient scorer who is crafty when attacking the rim. She can also knock it down from deep and is comfortable making her own shot on the perimeter. Krueger has high energy on both ends of the floor. She can certainly grab multiple steals per game and uses her quick footwork to alter her opponent on the court. She has a great shot selection as well, remaining poised and composed during high pressure defenses.
Leah Lemke | Wrightstown | Purple Aces | 5’7 G
A shooting specialist that can play both ways on the court. She can be a shooter and hold position on the perimeter or run the offense for her Purple Aces squad. She’s a facilitator and a floor general who communicates well and seems to enjoy getting her teammate open. She moves well on both ends and is extremely life on her feet. She’s well balanced in her shot as well, taking her time and refusing to force anything on offense. She is a talented on-ball defender and uses her surprisingly long arms to create a wide frame at just 5’7. Lemke may not be the quickest on the court but she makes up for it by being explosive on her first step and utilizing her ball handling skills to make a smooth pull up jumper.
Claire Diener | Cedarburg | WI Impact | 5’9 G
Diener is a highly athletic secondary guard with elite scoring ability. She is a complete sniper from beyond the arc and will knock down the perimeter shot with consistency. She can score from all three levels and her quick first step allows her to burst past defenders or fake and step back for an uncontested three point shot. Diener has also become a great offensive transition player- she consistently gets out in front of the defense, giving her easy buckets at the rim. She is a composed driver in the lane and a crafty finisher through height.
Grace Lomen | Catholic Memorial | WI Flight Elite | 5’9 G
Lomen has super quick hands on defense and manages to grab multiple steals per game with her ability to deflect passes. She has the ability to be able to go off on the offensive end, as she thrives at finishing with contact in the lane. She seems to be most comfortable attacking from the perimeter and using a pivot to find a smooth shot inside. Her mid-range and perimeter shot have continued to improve as she’s gained so much confidence in knocking them down this summer.
