Continue ReadingI’ve just finished another July segment which had me start the week off at Prime Time Nationals, well my week doesn’t start until I get there and ended up at Alamo City Hoops #GirlsEliteCombine as I write until 8 in the morning and I’m certain that will be over the heads of many but I’ll crank it right back up Friday at Austin Elite’s #AllEyezOnMe Individual Showcase and there are a few spots still available so don’t miss out and you must always “seize the opportunity” to put yourself in a position to be seen by someone who is actually watching and comprehends what they see so I’m closing out Cy Fair Premier’s 2021 event with some heat
Aiken Semones-5’8 G Cy Fair Premier (The Village School HS)
Semones continues to add even more to her game and catching my eye in the 3rd-grade dropping, what else, the 3 grabbed my attention yet over the years, the shots were deeper, she added the midrange, then she showed she could attack the rim and finish with contact yet speed and agility have improved over the years as well as strength and defense but that “catch and shoot” sure caught some eyes on LIVESTREAM
Taylor Jarrels-5’8 G Houston Dream (Lamar Consolidated)
Jarrels left me somewhat speechless because she put on a show and to be honest, I had no idea how good she was until I caught her at Shooting 4 Da Cure yet after finding out she had been out with an injury, it didn’t show because she sees the floor, she handles the ball under pressure, she creates her shot and she has range, mid to long as well as can attack from everywhere
Ravyn Ellis-5’9 G Houston Dream (Bellaire HS)
Ellis was very consistent at dropping the midrange and to be perfectly honest, that’s somewhat of a lost art yet it raises next level eyebrows to this day but she also plays the passing lane strong and that raises my eyebrows always but her athletic ability was on full display as she just brought heat on defense and elevated not only on her jumper but for rebounds
Sarai Etupian 5’5 G Cy Fair Premier Austin (Cedar Park HS)
Etupian is a heady guard that just understands how to not only get others involved yet how to take over with an array of offensive skills. I wrote “sees the floor through a microscope” and if you know what a microscope is for, you get it but she gives it to the right person at the right time, she as a nice stop and go move to attack as well as a solid mid to long-range game
Haleen Harris-5’9 G Houston UTD (Cy Creek HS)
Harris has been around for a very long time and her hard work and progression has not gone unnoticed because she has taken her game from being solid on defense in middle school, that’s a mouthful in itself, to not only attacking the rim from the wing and finishing but hitting the outside shot. She’s long and athletic, again that’s the base and her pressure and rebounding were among the best
Robin Whitehead 5’9 G (Atascocita HS)
Whitehead creates her shot smoothly while being pressured and her ability to attack and finish was among the best at the event. Her pull-up jumper, from midrange, was hard to defend and she mixes it up nicely on the offensive end but that pressure defense which includes blocking shots as well as playing that ever so important passing lane gave her layups going the other way numerous times
Haley Brown-5’7 G
Brown was another pleasant surprise and this is why I stress the importance of putting yourself in front of someone knowledgeable because the little things she does that may not show up on a score or stat sheet add up to big things in games. One of those things is that she simply battles for everything, on the floor, loose balls, whatever yet she does have a nice pull-up jumper that keeps the defense honest
