Shelton made her presence felt for a travel team that was competing in its first ever event. Given what teams have been accustomed to when she has the ball, she drew attention with double teams, but she managed to find a way to the basket. She scored 10 points in the second half enroute to a win over Lady Attack. Fans of the Eagles are familiar with some of the names that made the new travel team – including Shelton, Skylar Smith Skylar Smith 5'8" | SG Hilton Head Christian | 2022 State SC and Devon Yarde Devon Yarde 5'6" | PG Hilton Head Christian | 2024 State SC . That team went 28-2 enroute to an SCISA title.
Zhani Thompson Zhani Thompson 6'0" | SF Whale Branch | 2021 State SC – Whale Branch HS – H2 Lowco
Thompson is another dual sport athlete whose athleticism translates to not only basketball, but another sport played on the hardwood – volleyball. She is one that can draw her fair share of contact as well and can find herself for tries at the free throw line. Another of the Lowcountry’s premier players, she too will be looking for a fitting conclusion to her preps career when high school play for the 2020-21 season tips off.
Layla Warren Layla Warren 5'6" | PG Beaufort | 2021 State SC – Beaufort HS – H2 Lowco
When Lowcountry Heat was assembling the H2Basketball team, they went heavy on talent from the senior and junior classes. Warren is another one of those seasoned vets – and it is easy to see why. Another of South Carolina’s premier guards, she scored 16.2 points per game this past season for Reggie Jones’ Eagles. She is what one would call a consummate floor general who was ready to make plays on both ends.
