Destiny Middleton Destiny Middleton 5'9" | CG Westside | 2022 State SC – Westside HS – Team F.O.K.U.S.
There are some players who put up impressive stats that can impress onlookers and there are those that pass what is commonly referred to as the “eye test.” Middleton does both. Middleton brings plenty of energy to her game and it also helps to have the ability to connect on shots from long range. When looking at her game and her highlights, it should be to no one’s surprise why she nearly averaged 10 points per game (and over four rebounds) as a sophomore with the Lady Rams.
Quadaija Langley Quadaija Langley 5'6" | CG Blue Ridge | 2022 State SC – Blue Ridge HS – Hoopaville
Many of the 17u’s that make up Hoopaville were on hand in the Soda City and among them was this talented guard out of the Upstate. Langley can certainly make plays on both ends of the floor and can convert defense into offense. In addition to her defense, she is also a scorer, rebounder and distributor with an all-around game and an all-around positive attitude that compliments her play.
Anala Nelson Anala Nelson 5'8" | CG Lower Richland | 2022 State SC – Lower Richland HS – Hoopaville (pictured on the front)
Nelson did not have far to travel to get to the Carolina Jam Fest given she already plays for a high school team in the Midlands’ flagship county. Nelson averaged 17.2 points per game for the Lady Diamond Hornets team that finished 16-9. There is a reason as to why she has been offered by several schools at the college level – including South Alabama, Charlotte and Wofford.
Mazari Bennett Mazari Bennett 5'2" | PG Woodmont | 2022 State SC – Woodmont HS – Team F.O.K.U.S.
Speaking of ones or twos that get the job done on both offense and defense … A hallmark of Bennett’s game is her ability to drain shots from behind the arc. In addition, if she forces the other team into a turnover, that steal is likely to find one of her open teammates for a score or she will get out in transition for a basket.
Skylar Smith Skylar Smith 5'8" | SG Hilton Head Christian | 2022 State SC – Hilton Head Christian Academy – H2 Lowco
Another one of the juniors-to-be that made up veteran-laden inaugural Lowcountry Heat team. Smith played a number of valuable minutes for the team. Another one of the integral players that has helped in bringing back-to-back SCISA titles to the Eagles, Smith has certainly put in with not only her shooting, but her ball handling as well. She once mentioned that one of her initial influences to pursue basketball was Natalie Achonwa of the Indiana Fever.
