In taking a look at our player rankings, you will see one school in particular that stands out. The Spartans of Miami Country Day have a young team that is hungry for a state championship.

Sydney Shaw Sydney Shaw 5'9" | SG DME Academy | 2022 State FL – Miami Country Day
Point guard Sydney Shaw Sydney Shaw 5'9" | SG DME Academy | 2022 State FL spearheads a young group for Miami Country Day looking to build upon a successful 2019-2020 season. The Spartans reached the 3A final four before falling to the Master’s Academy in overtime. As a sophomore, Shaw averaged 11.0 points, 4.3 assists. 3.6 rebounds and 2.4 steals per game. Shaw is a smooth back-court prospect that will put relentless pressure on her opponent on the defensive side of the ball.
Jada Beneby – Miami Killian
Jada Beneby is a versatile combo guard returning as the leading scorer for the Cougars next season. The rising junior averaged 12.6 points, 3.0 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 3.7 steals per game for Killian. Against Southwest, Beneby scored a season-high 29 points on 10-of-17 shooting from the field. An active player on the defensive front, Beneby posted 13 games with four or more steals.
Nyla McKnight – Everglades
Nyla McKnight has a bright future playing for Everglades in Miramar. McKnight helped the Gators to a 16-9 record and a district championship win over Hialeah Gardens last season. The 6-foot forward is an excellent rebounder, returning as the Gators top player on the glass after averaging 8.5 rebounds as a sophomore. Per MaxPreps, McKnight tallied eight games with ten or more rebounds. Against Coral Glades, McKnight dropped 20 points and grabbed 20 boards. Her work ethic in the Gator front-court allows for put-back attempts and second chance opportunities for her teammates. The rising junior has been receiving interest from D2, NAIA and JUCO programs.
Jordana Codio Jordana Codio 6'1" | SF Montverde Academy | 2022 State FL – American Heritage (Delray)
Jordana Codio Jordana Codio 6'1" | SF Montverde Academy | 2022 State FL is one of the best players in the region, regardless of class. Codio averaged 22.1 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.3 steals and 2.0 assists as a sophomore. The Stallion captain is an athletic guard with superior size at 6-foot-1 to play over smaller players. Therefore, Codio can naturally get into the paint and finish in traffic. Against Palm Beach Lakes, Codio dropped 38 points on 13-for-23 from the field. She has verbally committed to the University of Wisconsin.
Riana Doctor Riana Doctor 6'0" | PF Gulliver Prep | 2022 State FL – Gulliver Prep
Down in suburban Miami, Doctor returns as Gulliver Prep’s leading scorer (12.3 PPG) and rebounder (6.3 RPG). Against Benjamin, the Raiders forward scored 21 points and knocked down a pair of 3-pointers. Doctor has good size to stretch the floor and keep her defenders guessing. The rising junior will look to lead the Raiders past its 17-12 record from a season ago.
Gloryn Letlow – Everglades
Gloryn Letlow is another player growing in the Gators system. The 5-foot-10 wing played substantial minutes as a sophomore and is only beginning to excel in her game. Letlow is an active player on the glass on both the defensive and offensive end of the floor. The versatile junior averaged 6.1 rebounds per game. Against Sebastian River, Letlow scored 11 points and grabbed eight rebounds. She has also received interest from D2, NAIA and JUCO programs.
