Continue ReadingRutgers Prep has historically been a dominant power in girls basketball in the state of New Jersey. Head coach Mary Klinger does a tremendous job with this program year after year. The Argonauts were once again a force in the 2019-20 season, winning the Somerset County Tournament and competing against the top schools in the state. Senior Christina Dalce Christina Dalce 6'2" | SF Rutgers Prep | 2021 State NJ , a recent Villanova commit, will get a lot of the attention when Rutgers Prep takes the court this upcoming season. There will be other names you need to know, however.
Kaylie Favours, Sr. — Rutgers Prep should be extremely competitive once again with a number of key players returning. Dalce will go into the season as an all-state contender, and for good reason. She is a headache for any defender in the paint with her ability to score and rebound. Kaylie Favours could be the key to this team, however. Favours can take over a game with her ability to knock down perimeter shots and keep defenses off balance. She had 12 double-digit games in the 2019-20 season, including a 17-point performance in a huge 47-41 come-from-behind win over Red Bank Catholic on Jan. 26.
Mia Yanogacio, Sr. — Similar to Favours, Yanogacio can be a nightmare for defenses with her ability to knock down long-range shots. She had 43 triples on the team last season, second to Favours’ 47. Yanogacio gets steals, she can facilitate and she’s a player who can control the pace of the game in the backcourt.
Isaballa Pellecchia, Sr. — Pellecchia is a player who can do it all on the court. She scores, rebounds, gets her teammates involved and she was tops on the team last year in steals with 76. She had eight games with five or more steals. Pellecchia will likely be in a larger role for Rutgers Prep as it looks to be a top team in New Jersey once again.
Katherine Donahue, Jr. — Donahue enters her junior season with the Argonauts. She is experienced and has been a steady contributor the last two seasons. Like Pellecchia, Donahue is someone who is capable of filling a stat sheet. She will likely take a steady leap for Rutgers Prep as it looks to build off a 25-5 season.
