MAYB 11th-12th Grade Girls Nationals Pool Play Performers (Part 1)

The Mid America Youth Basketball Nationals were hosted in the Omaha and Council Bluffs area July 31 - August 2 and featured some of the top programs from Nebraska and South Dakota. Nebraska Attack and Omaha Sports Academy both had teams that competed at a high level in the 11th-12th grade division during the first two days of the tournament. These are the 10 players (in no order) between the two programs that impressed through pool play. <h5 class="p1"><span class="s1">[player_tooltip player_id="173681" first="Tate" last="Norblade"] </span></h5> <p class="p1"><span class="s1">Norblade is an active guard that gets deflections, jumps passing lanes, and forces turnovers defensively. She pushed the ball up the floor herself after steals and finished layups at full speed on the fast break. Norblade makes good decisions, takes care of the ball, and plays with energy. </span></p> <h5 class="p1"><span class="s1">[player_tooltip player_id="94459" first="Reece" last="Snodgrass"]</span></h5> <p class="p1"><span class="s1">Snodgrass is an aggressive scoring guard that can shoot from outside and finish with some creativity inside. She is a solid ball handler that can attack with either hand and create space with quick crossover moves. Snodgrass is not afraid to shoot the ball and scored from all three levels Saturday afternoon. </span></p> <h5 class="p1"><span class="s1">Taylor Drent </span></h5> <p class="p1"><span class="s1">Drent is a long and athletic combo forward from Sioux City, Iowa that can defend at a high level on the perimeter. She can also play on the wing offensively or use her size and strength to score around the basket. Drent has a smooth high-arching jump shot and made her only attempt in the game that I watched Saturday.</span></p> <h5 class="p1"><span class="s1">[player_tooltip player_id="94534" first="Gwen" last="Stocker"] </span></h5> <p class="p1"><span class="s1">Stocker is a big post player that can stretch the floor. In a game on Saturday, she hit back to back threes when the defense didn’t extend. She also attacked her matchup with the dribble and scored with a spin move at the basket. Stocker can create space or play on the interior offensively.</span></p> <h5 class="p1"><span class="s1">[player_tooltip player_id="174472" first="Reilly" last="Palmer"] </span></h5> <p class="p1"><span class="s1">Palmer is a physical and aggressive forward that is active on both ends of the floor. She can defend multiple positions and keeps her matchup off the glass. She has solid footwork and looks to splits defenders and avoid contact with strong hop steps. Palmer gets downhill as a ball handler, protects the ball in traffic, and finishes through contact.</span></p>
