The guards mentioned in this article have shown how effective they can be beyond the perimeter. Each guard brings multiple different talents to their team and have been successful in many ways. But, they have shined this summer by becoming lights out from deep and adding consistent perimeter buckets to their repertoire.
Courtney Schuk | Bridgewater Elite | 5’7 G
Schuk was the three point specialist for her team this summer. She really developed her confidence and became super versatile on the perimeter. She is most effective off the pass but added a two dribble pull up late this season. She is consistent and has a quick release that makes her difficult to read and defend. Schuk also brings high-tempo and speed to her team and is the go-to player for hustle places and for high pressure defense.
Ally Timm Ally Timm 5'11" | SG DSHA | 2024 State WI | WI Impact | 5’9 W
Timm had such an impressive summer season with her Wisconsin Impact team. She is a 2-way combination guard that plays with poise, patience and experience. On defense, Timm can be relied on to take charges, alter shots and use her body to avoid fouls and cause turnovers. She has full court handles and the ability to remain controlled and finish strong at the rim. Her footwork in the lane is elite and she takes her time before selecting how she is going to shake her defender. Her range has only gotten deeper this summer and she is most confident knocking down the perimeter shot from the corner.
Tess Johnson | WI Academy | 5’7 PG
Johnson is a role player turned impact player for this WI Academy team. She knows her place on the floor and understands what she needs to bring to the court for her team to be successful. A great trait for a point guard- Johnson is unselfish and smart. She has a high basketball IQ and it shows through her movement with and without the ball. She facilitates the offense well and has great court vision. Her shot selection is elite and she could easily take over a game with her knock down three point shot. She sets her feet and let’s it fly from anywhere on the court. She creates her own shot and uses her impressive handles to make space between herself and the defender.
Audrey Deptula | WI Flight Elite | 5’11 W
Deptula is a player to keep an eye on as she has such a high ceiling and continues to impress. A true wing player already, Deptula has a smooth shot and a quick release. She has so much range and is confident from a few steps beyond the perimeter. She does well using screens and flaring to the open spot. Her footwork on flares oftentimes leaves her defenders lost and she is able to have a wide open three point shot. She’s improved her dribble pull up and was pretty consistent this summer knocking those down in transition. She pushes the ball up the floor and can handle well against smaller guards.
