Oregon Elite 17U Gold took on Troop West Black 17U, an Adidas team based out of Santa Clarita, CA on day two of the Arizona Elite Fall Classic. [player_tooltip player_id="158507" first="Kilyn" last="Dawkins"] got started early, on a pass from [player_tooltip player_id="158512" first="Anna" last="Dazey"] as she put in an easy basket, however, Oregon Elite fell to a 5-12 deficit early but chipped at the lead. Gracie Arnold scored at the rim and Reese Ericson scored on an isolation mid-range jumper to make it 9-12. Addie Reardon found Allie Hueckman along the arc for a three to tie it at 12. Dawkins found the offensive board and put it back in while fouled but missed the extra point to make it 17-14 Oregon Elite. Dazey gave it to Reardon who found Hueckman for another three to make things 19-16. Oregon Elite, after a nice few plays down the floor, would look a little shaky as the next score would come from a [player_tooltip player_id="158524" first="Lindsey" last="Wilson"] inbounds jumper that would make it 24-29. At halftime it was Oregon Elite 24-31 as they were very much in the game, showing some resilience and fight. Their scoring efforts in the second half were started off by a Dawkins find to Hueckman, who this time banked in the triple. This would make things 27-33 and this would be closest Oregon Elite would get before things got out of reach. Dawkins found Dazey at the top of the key for a mid-range jumper. A Prechel three and Ericson score made the affair 34-51. O’Hollaren found Prechel for another three as a Wilson score would make it 39-60. Gracie Arnold would find Wilson inside for a score as Jayden Ray would be fouled at the buzzer shooting a three, she sank all three foul shots as her team cheered her on for this endeavor. Ultimately, Troop West Black would take this game 69-48. Stats: Reese Ericson: 4 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists Gracie Arnold: 5 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist [player_tooltip player_id="158530" first="Elka" last="Prechel"]: 6 points, 1 rebound [player_tooltip player_id="158555" first="Keelie" last="O’Hollaren"]: 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block [player_tooltip player_id="158524" first="Lindsey" last="Wilson"]: 6 points, 7 rebounds [player_tooltip player_id="158512" first="Anna" last="Dazey"]: 2 points, 3 assists, 1 steal [player_tooltip player_id="158507" first="Kilyn" last="Dawkins"]: 9 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 block Jayden Ray: 3 points, 1 assist Allie Hueckman: 8 points, 1 rebound Addie Reardon: 5 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists [player_tooltip player_id="158507" first="Kilyn" last="Dawkins"]: Most Improved We all know Kilyn as the enforce in the middle, grabbing rebounds at an excellent pace as well as providing scoring down low. She has added extra layers to her game, as now she is a superb passer on the perimeter who knows how to find her teammates and looks to do it. She has also made several three-pointers in the summer, adding to her overall offensive repertoire. Dawkins has upped her game in the summer, leaving everybody to notice as the Southridge forward is becoming more of a versatile option. Allie Hueckman: Top Scoring Option Throughout the course of the summer, Allie has been called upon by her coaches and teammates alike to get them a bucket when they most need it. Teammates have developed a psychic-like connection with the prolific shooter, as they will drive dish to the corner for Allie, knowing that she will knock down the shot in a jiffy. She showed her uncanny ability to knock down the perimeter shot perhaps through the first points of the second half, in which she banked one in from downtown - by accident or on purpose we may never know. Developing Buds Other players that have grown, particularly this weekend are Gracie Arnold and [player_tooltip player_id="158530" first="Elka" last="Prechel"]. It was in Indianapolis where Gracie Arnold laid down her foundation as another significant presence in the post, but Arizona is where she continued to make a statement. She is comfortable around the perimeter area as a face-up player on offense, as in this game she knowned one down from the perimeter. [player_tooltip player_id="158530" first="Elka" last="Prechel"] is the sniper from long range with a quick release, but she has shown that she is a scrapper on defense who can rebound at a great pace for her position and can also defend at the rim as well.
