Breakthrough JV Performances In Week Two Of PIL Play

The top two teams competed for first place in the league standings on Tuesday night, as Benson defeated Grant by 2 points in an intense battle. The game had many lead changes. It came down to the final seconds and some clutch free throws for freshman standout guard Sa'reiylle Carstens- Cornwell, who sealed the victory for the Astros. She's been making an impact on both jv and varsity. She has been showing great leadership skills out on the floor and knows how to take control of key situations when the game is on the line. <br>This week Sa'reiylle averaged 12 points, 6 steals, and 5 rebounds per game for Benson. A quick defender who knows how to be aggressive and take the ball from her opponents. She reads the court well and is good at being one step ahead of the rest.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">Sa'reiylle is also a great passer and is good at getting the ball up the court in a hurry. A sharp shooter from the outside and excellent at driving and getting to the basket and drawing contact. She's consistent from the free-throw line and in big moments, she's not afraid to take control and knock down shots. In Tuesday's heated battle vs Benson, Carly had 10 points and 8 rebounds. She was the playmaker out on the floor for the Generals. <br>She's a quick defender and can make an impact in the paint against her opponents. She was great at attacking the hoop and getting to the free-throw line. Carly is a great shooter. She just moved up from the freshman team to play JV. Her coach said she's been doing so well that she's changed the pace of their team. Don't let her size fool you, she's quick up the floor and can read the court well. <br>This week, she was after the ball on rebounds, averaging 7 per game. Her IQ and knowledge of the game are making a positive impact. This combo guard was getting after this week, especially on rebounds. She was hustling up and down the floor every minute of the game.
