It’s that time of year where we take a look at our Rankings and discuss any movements or additions that need made, and next we have the Class of 2022. There was not a ton of movement near the top of the rankings, but a few changes within the Top 10 that can be seen here! 1. [player_tooltip player_id="11460" first="Brianna" last="McDaniel"], 5’10” Guard, Kenwood Maintaining the top spot in the recent Ranking update, McDaniel is a dominant Point Guard who can play on or off-the-ball with her elite set of skills. She is explosive with the ball and uses her strength and speed to get in the lane and finish through contact. Brianna is a plus shooter from deep and the mid-range and can defend any opposing Guard with her length and athleticism. 2. [player_tooltip player_id="78767" first="Camille" last="Jackson"], 5’11” Guard, Butler College Prep Another high-level Point Guard who can play the other Guard positions, Jackson is a natural playmaker with the ball in her hands. She is smooth in transition and sees the floor exceptionally well. Camille uses her high basketball IQ to make good decisions as well as creative passes and finishes in the lane. 3.[player_tooltip player_id="78770" first="Taylor" last="Charles"], 6’1” Guard, Burlington Central Charles is a dynamic athlete who typically plays off-ball, though she can handle it well. She can play the Small Forward role due to her height and length, but she is able to step outside and score from the wing. Taylor is a terrific defender, using her athleticism and length to guard players on the perimeter and post players in the lane. 4. [player_tooltip player_id="124851" first="Nayo" last="Lear"], 5’10” Guard, Thornwood Rising a couple spots in the Rankings due to a terrific Summer of AAU ball, Lear is Point Guard with slick handles and impressive finishing abilities. Her speed and athleticism are tough for most defenders to match up with, allowing her easy access into the lane and good looks at the rim. Nayo can shoot the ball well from deep and causes havoc on the defensive side with her pesky on-ball defense. 5. [player_tooltip player_id="78771" first="Brianna" last="Wooldridge"], 6’2” Forward, Fremd Transferring back to Fremd High School for her Junior season, Wooldridge is coming off a great Summer on the AAU circuit. She’s a strong and powerful Forward with good athleticism who is tough to match up with in the paint. Brianna continues to develop a smooth shot from the outside, and does a terrific job driving the ball from the wing and finishing strong or drawing a foul. 6. [player_tooltip player_id="78772" first="Katie" last="Krupa"], 6’2” Forward, Morton Krupa is high level player from Downstate who impresses every time she’s on the court. The Harvard commit (lone commit in Illinois’ Class of 2022) has good ball skills and quickness on the perimeter and the strength, physicality, and touch in the post to make her one of the more well-round players in the state. Likewise, Katie can defend opponents outside or in the paint due to her length and athleticism. 7. [player_tooltip player_id="124853" first="Tatiana" last="Thomas"], 5’11” Forward, Bolingbrook Thomas is a skilled Guard/Forward who can play anywhere on the floor with her athleticism and physicality. She has good strength to get past perimeter defenders and handles contact well when looking to finish at the rim. Tatiana defends post players well with her length and can use her quickness to step outside and match up with opposing Guards. 8. [player_tooltip player_id="158262" first="Kennedi" last="Perkins"], 5’5” Guard, Bolingbrook A lightning quick Point Guard with an outstanding all-around game, Perkins continues to show that she belongs among the top players in the state. She is a strong Lead Guard who takes care of the ball and leads the offense well. Kennedi is a plus shooter from the outside and uses her quickness to get in the lane to make plays. 9. [player_tooltip player_id="78781" first="Kenzie" last="Hare"], 5’9” Guard, Bartlett Another Guard whose stock keeps climbing, Hare has consistently proven that she is one of the best, if not the best, three-point shooters in the state. She is very confident with the ball in her hand and displays a steady form every time she shoots it. Kenzie is a hustle player who shows great effort for loose balls and rebounds on both ends of the court. 10. [player_tooltip player_id="78785" first="Simone" last="Sawyer"], 5’10” Guard, Stevenson Sawyer is a talented player who can play any of the Guard spots with her intriguing skillset. She dominates the transition game and scores well from the wing with her athleticism and length. Simone is a disciplined defender who can matchup with any guard and most post players.
