Makenna Yokley | 6-0 PF | Owasso | 2024 | @makenna_yokley
Yokley is another Tulsa JYD player and to me that means that she is a big who is smart and can handle the ball as well as a lot of point guards. It seems to be a trend with the Tulsa based program that has turned out college bigs like Brenda da Silva (Arkansas Tech) and Kloe Bowin Kloe Bowin 6'1" | PF Tahlequah | 2020 State OK (Rogers State) that are extremely well-rounded. Makenna is no different. She is a big body who gets very good position on rebounds and fights hard for every ball. She gets up and down the court faster than a lot of the perimeter players and often finds herself open for easy lay-ups when she beats her defender back down the court. Coaches will want to get out and see the Rams play this season and watch what Makenna Yokley does in her first high school season.
Meya Case | 5-6 PG | Yukon | 2021
Case stands out on the court. Probably equal parts for her size – she is very big and strong – and for her ability to run a team. She is a stand-out among the stand-outs. She guides her team with her eyes up the court and her mind working all the way down the floor. She is unselfish and spent almost all day dishing beautiful dimes to her new/temporary teammates. She is a great communicator and became the team leader almost instantly. She had the coaches in attendance talking and whether she has many offers yet or not, they will come. She has a senior season coming up and if she performs at even half the level she did against some of the best players in Oklahoma on Saturday she will be playing in college come next year.
Mat T’yawna Harper Mat T’yawna Harper 5'6" | CG Tulsa Union | 2021 State OK | 5-5 SG | Tulsa Union | 2021 | @MatTyawna
When you get home from a showcase or tournament, you hop on social media to see what everyone is saying about it. The majority of videos yesterday evening – on my feed at least – were of Mat T’yawna making sweet dishes or driving to the hoop and scoring. Though listed as a shooting guard, Harper can run the point with unselfishness. She can score at the hoop and demands the attention of every player on the court when the ball is in her hands. She has a sweet stroke from deep and is unafraid to take – and usually make – the contested shot. Harper is a tenacious defender and can virtually shut out the player that she is guarding. Harper has an offer from the University of Dallas and definitely put herself on the radars of even more coaches yesterday.
