Sunday Expo Standouts Part 2

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Wow what a great turnout of athletes this Sunday at Oklahoma Top 250 Expo. Wide range of talent to those that are already ranked, those that are on the watch list, and those that are ready to make a name for themselves. A count of 80 plus kids it will take awhile to cover them all but I want to drop 5 players in my notes from Sunday. I watched her make a couple of 3-pointers from the logo as if was shooting a free throw. Then the next couple of possessions she posted up the guard with a smooth up and under move as if she was 6'2. The signs of a high IQ player were truly on display. She moves without the ball on offense creating scoring opportunities for her team. A player on offense that can truly play 1-5. Now that 5 means you are playing with your post on the perimeter and Elia inside. A scenario like that could cause teams issues</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>On defense at 5'7 she could guard pretty much 1-5 on the floor. Teams thought they had the mismatch in the post but she used her legs and quickness to get around the post. Plays with grit and toughness. Meaning she goes hard on both ends of the floor. Offensively she can knock down the outside shot, while getting paint touches. Nice decision on the paint touch either taking it to the rim, pulling up at the logo, or kicking it out for the jumper. Up the floor vision was on point as he made several long passes up the floor in transition for easy layups.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A transfer this season to Yukon will allow people to see Dakota this year. Moves great off the ball with cuts behind the defense looking for backdoor points. Great hands on the catch resulted in a high shooting percentage in the game I watched. Showed good mid-range shot with nice shot motion. It looked like she would have plenty to extend that range even though I did not see it.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Mismatched at times for the other team as she looked very comfortable in the block with strong post up and a nice drop step to put it on the box for score. Nice box out on the shots with a good 2 handed rebound to secure the ball. Understands the 2 man game with a good roll giving the passes good angles. A post in high school that played more small forward in AAU this summer. The shooting was on display in the 3/3 action. Nice footwork on the catch with a good release. Guard has range as she extended the shot about 3-4 beyond the arch. A player that understood spacing and kept moving without the ball creating gap drives or cutting backdoor looking for the layup. Fast tempo guard that picked a steal in the passing lane off the ball and was gone attacking the rim coast to coast.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Rylin made good decisions all day in the action I watched. Rylin brings versatility to the game as she can play guard on offense but is an excellent defender in the post area. Do not get me mistaken she can go. Scrappy point guard that play all in on defense and offense. If you are a paint touch coach Gabby can get you those. A consistent presence on driving paint touches she created scoring opportunities for herself and teammates. Guard does a great job at getting to the rim without getting shot blocked; she just has that knack. Shooting range is there off the catch or dribble off the screen.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Smart player on defense that knows how to apply pressure without getting beat. Nice double down on the post stealing the ball a couple of times. First time seeing Eliana play and her consistent effort just kept jumping off the page. Low Block player that knows how to use her body for positioning. Finished with either hand off turnaround jumper. Kept good spacing on the pick and roll giving the guard the option to drive or pass. Nice touch off the glass and a persistent rebounder on both ends. Staying with the tips till gaining possession of the ball. Good strong post up that can hold up and jump to get the lob over the top.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>As mentioned a player that caught my eye with hustle by getting on the floor.
