In a showcase with players ranging from not only the entire State but its bordering areas as well, there will surely be players that stand-out outside of the most prolific performers. Call them sleepers or other stand-outs - these players certainly showed that they belonged in the conversation of players that made a difference while on the floor. Victoria Hyatt is an incoming freshman who had several different ways to get it done as a three-level scorer. Candence Davis is a slick guard who finds ways to contribute in the transition as a scorer but can score in the half-court setting. Ashlyn Zhang made a name for herself as s cerebral and flashy play-maker when the ball is in her hands. Victoria Hyatt 2024 5’7" SG Shadow Hills HS - Hyatt found ways to score inside and also hit a three-pointer in stride for her team as she was a solid option on the perimeter. An above average defender who will do what it takes for her team to have a shot. Contributed 9 points and 3 rebounds as she is a scorer who doesn’t need a lot of touches nor shots to make a difference. Plays defense well with her length and effort, has a strong handle on the ball. Plays well in transition as a passer, dynamic in the half-court setting as a three-level scorer. Finished with 9 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. Ashlyn Zhang 2022 5’7" SG Flintridge Prep - Zhang is a guard who has the ball on the string as her biggest asset perhaps is the ability to handle the basketball. Can score within the paint as she pushes the ball well within the half-court setting, knowing how to find deficiencies within the defense. Defensively, she is engaged as a quick witted player who comes up with the ball. Finished with 6 points, 2 assists, and 3 steals. All-around player who knows her role and doesn’t step outside these boundaries. She scored 6 points, grabbed 6 rebounds, and had 2 steals in her all-around performance.
