The Vegas event featured more Southern California talent as well as some local Nevada players. I wasn’t able to attend the Vegas showcase but I was able to follow along on social media and BallerTV and here are some of the players who stood out to me.
1. Ryann Bennett Ryann Bennett 5'6" | PG St. Anthony | 2024 State CA – 2024 St. Anthony HS (Long Beach, CA)
Bennett is entering her first year of high school basketball and she looks like she has some major upside. She is a crafty ballhandler who can handle defensive pressure and she has good court vision. She can see the floor and find open players; a true point guard. She’s also a solid shooter from three-point range and has good form on her jumper. Definitely a player who can make an impact right away as a freshman.
2. Majesty Cade Majesty Cade 5'9" | CG Etiwanda | 2023 State CA – 2023 St. Anthony HS (Long Beach, CA)
Cade is a strong guard with a knack for getting into the lane. She has good offensive footwork and finishes strong at the rim. She can also step out and shoot from three-point range. When she puts on the jets, she’s tough for opposing defenders to keep in front of them; she pushes the ball in transition and makes the right plays. Great motor, and she competes hard on the glass for a guard.
3. Syri Prevo – 2024 Mayfair HS (Lakewood, CA)
Prevo was a player I got to watch at Reno and it’s no surprise that she was invited back to the Vegas showcase. She’s a very solid ballhandler who keeps her dribble low and the ball close to the ground; dribbles with her head up. When I saw her, she was one of the best in one-on-one drills. She has a ton of upside and all the tools to be an effective scorer at the high school level.
4. Tia Barefield – 2023 Rancho Christian HS (Temecula, CA)
Barefield is a solid point guard with strong handles who dribbles under control. She’s quick and athletic and her craftiness is a handful for opposing defenders. She’s a lefty with a good jump shot. She can shoot from the midrange and she can shoot from the three-point line as well. Good at using her dribble to get to her spots on the court and free herself up for a jumper.
