Bump City Fall League Standouts
I spent the day at Odenton Christian School where I took in a number of games to see who was balllin’ out this fall. There were a number of players who caught my eye. Let’s took a look…
Jala Bannerman Jala Bannerman 5'6" | PG St. Frances Academy | 2022 State MD , 2022, Guard, St. Frances
Jala is one of my favorite 2022 guards in the area. She always goes hard and is fun to watch. She is an intense competitor and excels in the open court. She set the tone early for the Panthers with a breakaway “and 1” situation that got the team fired up. She’s quick with above average athleticism and is a willing defender. I’m hoping they find more minutes for her this season as the team is deep at her position.
Kimmya Hicks, 2023 Guard, St. Frances
Ms. Hicks shot the ball extremely well today from long range and in the paint. She has a tight handle and showed the ability to get to the rim whenever she felt like it, but I was most impressed by her shot making ability. She will force her way into some minutes this season with the defending IAAM champions. Strong overall performance by her.
Taylor Chase, 2023 Guard, Yorktown (VA)
Taylor had a good day with her club team. She is fundamentally sound and moves well without the ball. She is a shot maker and a scorer. She scored mostly off mid range pull ups or off catch and shoot situations. She established good post position
Ny’Shae Weaver, 2021 Forward, Coppin Academy
Ny’shae is a big time athlete and she had a nice outing today. She used her length and hops to crash the boards and rack up put back points in addition to all the buckets she scored in the post. Her range on her jumper has improved but she really didn’t need to use that today as she was having her way in the paint. At six feet she has nice size to go along with her athleticism.
Aryss Mactoon, 2023 Wing, St. Timothy’s
2023 is a deep class in the area and Aryss has taken a seat at the table. She is an explosive player with a wicked first step and made some eye popping moves while playing with the MD Lady Tigers team. She has perfected her mid range jumper where she just elevates and shoots over the defender. She has a nice soft touch around the basket and rebounds well. With continued work on her skill set she could become a power five recruit.
