The Southwestern conference is a loaded conference. They have great coaches, along with talented players who should be seen and recognized. The three rising senior stars who have already committed to play college ball in [player_tooltip player_id="201033" first="Braylyn" last="Milton"] (Cincinnati), [player_tooltip player_id="116882" first="Kennedy" last="Calhoun"] (Longwood), and [player_tooltip player_id="201042" first="Nia" last="Nelson"] (Howard). Outside of them here is who you should watch: [player_tooltip player_id="213234" first="Jyana" last="Salton"]: The 5’9 point guard from Porter Ridge high school is a rising sophomore. She plays fast and hard the entire game. Her size and athletic ability allows her to overpower her opponents. As a point guard she is a good rebounder as well, which got her, her 2 first double-doubles of her career. Her career best came with a 28 point, 12 rebound win mid-way through the season. As an all conference selection in her freshman season, the next 3 years should be even more exciting to watch. She plays AAU for the Team Monarch organization. [player_tooltip player_id="206410" first="Jasmine" last="Fearne"]: The 5’11 shooting guard/small forward from Hickory Ridge high school is a rising junior. Jasmine comes from a basketball family, as her father is a D1 assistant men’s coach at UNCC, and the head coach for the New Zealand men’s U19 National Team (where they are from). She is a knock down 3 point shooter, totaling 48 3’s in 29 games played this season (40% from the floor). She averaged over 12 points per contest, and snagged nearly 6 rebounds. She has already had recognition from the Charlotte Observer for her weekly performances as a sophomore, she is a name you will be seeing more of. She plays AAU with the SC 76ers Organization. [player_tooltip player_id="213229" first="Emina" last="Lockley"]: The 5’4 point guard from Rocky River high school is a rising senior. The scrappy defender is a tough nosed, playing hard player who should be recognized. She has the ability to get to the rim and finish (right or left), she has a decent jump shot, and has good court vision. She will guard the opponents point guard, and pressure them full court if needed. She is a college caliber player who will have a great senior season. She plays AAU for the Lady Attack Elite organization. [player_tooltip player_id="213230" first="Sa’Miyah" last="Williams"]: The 5’9 small forward from Butler high school is a rising senior. She played behind 3 seniors last season who who all signed to play at the next level, she was the glue player they needed to win games. She rebounds well, has a nice mid-range game, and can put it on the floor and finish at the rim. She pushes in transition. She has good size for the next level, and should be the bulldogs leader this season. She plays AAU for the 1Dream organization. [player_tooltip player_id="116914" first="Mia" last="Xerras"]: The 5’6 point guard from Myers Park high school is a rising sophomore. She has very good court vision and as a freshman made good decisions when the ball is in her hands. She likes to push in transition and has athletes around her to finish the plays she starts. She can take her defender off the bounce to get into the paint where she either finishes or dishes off to an open teammate. She also shoots the 3 ball over 50% and attempted over 90 3’s. She has the potential to make a lot of noise over the next 3 years, and already was the on the "Talking All-preps Freshman Team" by the Charlotte Observer. She plays AAU for the Team Curry organization. [player_tooltip player_id="213235" first="Megan" last="Brandon"]: The 6’0 center from Porter Ridge high school is a rising sophomore. She uses her size inside to dominate on the boards in her freshman season. She had 8 different double-digit rebounding games this last season, including a double-double career high with 17 points and 18 rebounds. She does not mind being physical, and will go up against bigger players with no issue. Getting into better shape will come with more playing and training in the next 3 seasons, and the better shape she gets into the better she will become at finishing and an even bigger beast on the boards. She really can make a name for herself if she keeps putting in the work.
