The OGBR Top 64 featured over 300 standouts, playing in front of D2, D3 and NAIA head coaches, while many more D1 coaches watched via live stream. This week – we look at many of the day’s top performers – some who you most likely already know and others who made a name for themselves on Sunday.
Kendall Braaten – 5’9 Guard – Laurel – Class of 2023
Braaten played as hard as anyone in the event. She competed on D and showed an ability to get to the rim at will, finishing with both hands through contact. Kendall seemed most comfortable off of the bounce, showcasing a quick burst when she changes directions, often times allowing her to blow by her defender.
Isabella Callaway – 5’7 Guard – Hoban – Class of 2024
Callaway is a prototypical lead guard. She seems to always make the right decision, whether it be shooting a jumper when a defender goes under the screen, driving and finishing at the rim in a variety of ways or creating easy scoring opportunities for her teammates. Isabella’s energy and joy for the game is impressive – she has a bright future.
Ushana Garst – 5’9 Forward – Alter – Class of 2024
Ushana was one of the second session’s most impressive rebounders. She was particularly impressive on the offensive boards – where she finished a number of put-backs. Garst is seemingly still developing her toolbox offensively, but her effort and frame are both there.
Elly Lewis – 5’4 Guard – Fairfield Union – Class of 2024
Elly started her session with a barrage of jumpers. She has a super quick release to go with her picture-perfect jumper. That jump shot extends well beyond the 3-point line, where she shoots it with confidence. Elly is much more than a stand-still shooter though – she is effective off of the dribble, doing a great job attacking in transition.
Ashley Mullet – 5’4 Guard – Hiland – Class of 2024
Ashley is very skilled – to the level that it makes it especially fun to watch her play the game. Although she isn’t the biggest guard – she is lightning quick and makes outstanding decisions with the ball in her hands. She made some great finishing moves and also showed a pure jumper in both catch-and-shot and off-the-dribble situations.
